Framing how people respond during sexual assaults in terms of "survival mode" and "reflexes and habits" is much better than adding "freeze," "fawn" or other f-words to "fight, flight,..." To learn why, you can read my writings and watch my videos... jimhopper.com/topics/sexual-…

⁩A majority of victims “freeze” in response to sexual assault. I spent over a year trying to understand what this means and why we are failing victims by not understanding it. In this week’s cover story for ⁦⁦⁦@NYTmag#ifroze #metoo nytimes.com/2023/08/22/mag…

I gave this brief (14 min) talk at Bessel van der Kolk’s trauma conference in May 2022, but these risks and responsibilities will always be with us. youtu.be/31QbKuWDeUA

I’ve published two brief animated videos (one 4-min video) on common causes of people experiencing amnesia and delayed recall (aka recovering memories) of sexual abuse and other traumas. youtu.be/pw7Wf6WgVAk

My interview for the Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Global Summit is available free today. I share a lot of what I’ve learned about “Collaboration, Connection, and Empowerment: Why Good Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Is Synonymous with Good Trauma Therapy.” bestyear.krtra.com/t/yDb35nIYezXc

I really enjoyed talking about trauma-informed MDMA-and ketamine-assisted therapy with Wade Robson & James Safechuck, two courageous and talented men featured in Leaving Neverland, for their podcast series, From Trauma to Triumph. youtube.com/watch?v=aLuhJp…

A somewhat personal story from me today. I wrote about what the words "neurodiversity" and "neurodivergent" mean (and don’t mean), specifically in the context of these terms now being used more broadly, not just in the autism community. vice.com/en/article/v7d…

Invitation to check out the FREE "Courses" section of my website. It has self-paced modules with interactive content that explains how stress and trauma can alter brain, experience and behavior during sexual assaults and other traumatic experiences. jimhopper.com/online-courses/

@Apostolides_M @MegJSpriggs @N_Gukasyan @DrAdeleLafrance @schaffles @MAPS Thanks for your thoughtful & insightful article. As a MAPS therapist & provider of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, I've observed that ketamine's "dissociation" can involve modulating interoceptive input in ways that help people be MORE in their bodies -- including with desires.
