Trump released his new budget today, and as a member of the Appropriations Committee, let me tell you what it actually says. $1.5 trillion for the Pentagon, cuts to disaster response, cuts to education, cuts to clean energy, cuts to programs that help Americans pay their heating bills, and cuts to health research. Trump himself said that Medicaid, Medicare, and child care should no longer be the federal government’s responsibility. This is the largest proposed year-over-year increase in military spending since the Korean War, financed on the backs of working families, for a war this president has never justified to Congress or the American people. Oh, and it would add TRILLIONS to the national debt. This budget is an admission of who this Administration has decided doesn't matter.
