Vivekachudamani (The Crest-Jewel of Discrimination) is one of the most celebrated works attributed to Adi Shankaracharya, the great philosopher of Advaita Vedanta. It is a prakarana grantha (introductory treatise) that systematically explains the principles of non-dualism, the path to self-realization, and the means to liberation (moksha). The text is composed of 580 verses in Sanskrit, written in a poetic meter called Anushtubh. It is structured as a dialogue between a guru and a disciple, with the guru instructing the disciple on the nature of the self, the illusory nature of the world, and the path to liberation. Since 2 pm today, I have been sitting at a police station in Delhi with a young woman to get her FIR filed A serial criminal and notorious illegal arms supplier who is currently in jail, Mohd Fahim, trapped her because his maulvi mama told him that since he cannot go out of India for Haj given his criminal record, he must get a Hindu woman converted to Islam for same ‘sabaab’ to enter jannat (watch her video statement recorded by me) The woman, who is a Hindu from a scheduled caste, has been through a lot in last 4 years: gangrape, threats, force-feeding of cow meat, abuse, trauma and, most recently, threats from his jail cell Statement given. Remember Asia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian woman who spent 8 years on death row after being accused of “blasphemy” for drinking water from a Muslim’s cup. Asia was working in the fields with her Muslim coworkers. She got thirsty and went to fetch water from the well, where she took a drink with an old metal cup she had found. That’s all it took. Christians are considered dirty and impure in Islam, and she was accused of attempting to contaminate the Muslims’ water just by drinking from their cup. She was sentenced to death by hanging. The governor of her province voiced opposition to the verdict and was assassinated by his own bodyguard. When she was finally acquitted in 2018 due to international pressure, tens of thousands of Muslims rioted, demanding her immediate execution. A local poll found that 10 MILLION Pakistanis would personally kill her if given the chance. Just for drinking water from a Muslim’s cup. Her lawyer had to flee the country. And after months in hiding, she was finally able to escape Pakistan and received asylum in Canada. This is Pakistan, where non-Muslims live under the constant threat of death. The more I learn about this country, the more it just feels like ISIS with a formal government.

As a frequent night train traveller, thank you Ashwini Vaishnaw-ji 🙏 I agree with him that most of our flying should be replaced with high speed trains. India is the ideal geography for trains, both high speed trains and local trains. We can travel Delhi-Mumbai or Chennai-Mumbai in 4-5 hours (Beijing-Shanghai is about the same distance). Now let me come to local city/suburb/exurb train networks. Japan's local train networks are a marvel of both engineering and business planning. Japan has real estate companies that run private local train networks, connecting various suburbs/exurbs. They combine train stations with shopping malls, hospitals and the like. In India, a lot of idle capital locked up in semi-urban or urban real estate can be used to finance the build up by private companies. Japan presents a very interesting model. Now my personal passion: we must build trains to every panchayat in India (250,000 station network!). Building the network will massively stimulate the economy and create rural jobs. Once the infrastructure is done, it will attract higher value economic activity. It will set off a 10-15 year economic boom!
