@AutoInfatuation @gibberingphil My road and its housing dates back to the 1860s as do the mains pipes. The damage is caused by the roads not being strong enough to cope with HGVs and heavy EVs crushing the pipes underneath.

@gibberingphil @jjbconsultltd That would make an awful lot of sense, so do they put the hosepipe bans in to stop the stress momentarily on the pipework?

Home in the new car and I’m fairly happy so far. 2010 Jaguar XF-S Portfolio 3.0D 271bhp and 443ft/lb (600nm) Torque Liquid Metallic Silver with Beige Nappa Leather, Heated & Cooled front seats, Bowers & Wilkins Stereo, Keyless Entry, Sunroof, Bi-Xenon Headlights etc etc. 153,000 miles but pretty much full service history, Cambelt and Waterpump changed 20,000 miles ago too. Long term ownership, lovely spec and it drove really nice on the 118mi journey home from London. 43.3mpg and I didn’t hang about to be honest 😱 Few little bits to sort but nothing major: Front right tyre pressure sensor popped up as faulty on the way home and a front brake pad wear light but the seller was honest about that bit. It has two keys but both could do with new cases if that is even possible as they are a bit weathered let’s say? It’s on factory fitted 20” Alloys but for me they are too big and/or do not have enough rubber on them despite having quite new tyres. Thinking I’ll buy a set of OEM 19”s to replace them with provided it won’t look weird 🤷‍♂️

Incredibly last minute decision to go and buy a new car 😅 never booked a train so close to my actual departure time (apart from the X5 breakdown fiasco 😬)

@AutoInfatuation If I had to tell the truth my favourite workhorse of all time car was a 2003 E320 Cdi which I bought mainly to drive from London to Glasgow once a month The attached photo was well worth the speed awareness course

A quick drink in here this afternoon. The Hole in the Wall near Waterloo Station. It’s like stepping back to the 70s coming in here. In a good way. Almost empty though today, which is a shame. Was rammed the last time I was here, which admittedly was three years ago. Anyway, it’s always an experience when a train goes directly overhead and the whole place shakes. The tables, the chairs, everything. Don’t know if you can hear it on this video but tried to capture it.

@London_W4 Was originally managed by my Dad Ulick Burke from 1958 He took over the lease from Whitbread in the late 1960s and was our main outlet until rates and rent forced a reluctant sale by my brother in October last year. 1958 - 2025 so 67 years run by the same family.

Its been a long and emotional night. My daughter Lilla was hit by an e bike hit and run last night in Peckham - hopefully there is CCTV. Her sisters were with her. She is badly injured but now at home. It could have been so much worse. We are incredibly lucky. Then when she and her sisters and a friend arrived at A&E a drunk entered the trauma room where they were and exposed himself to them. The police were there and he has been arrested. The police were magnificent. I spoke to them when I arrived at 3.15 and he is now in custody. We all want to say a massive thank you to our amazing police, the wonderful staff at @kingscollegehospital - nurses and doctors. Calum and the team. From the bottom of our hearts. ❤️ they were all bloody superb.

It has been reported that a 125-decibel sound level was recorded at the Scotland v Haiti game during the pre match anthem singing of Flower of Scotland - the loudest ever noise level at a World Cup match. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Just driven my wonderful Citroen 2cv across Chiswick, London. Built in 1957, I bought this car in Belfast and drove it back via Liverpool. That was an adventure, I can tell you. Anyway, the sun is shining now and if you want to buy it off me, I’m very open to offers. Genuinely. It’s got a replaced chassis and runs perfectly. Brakes just been done too. It even featured in the 2cv owners club magazine. Registration number is 412 UYL. Go on, treat yourself. You know you want it.

@AutoInfatuation Happens to the best of us Sam The best way of looking at it is summed up by a Scottish phrase my Glaswegian in laws told me over twenty years ago. Hell (will) mend them. Could have been worse Best of luck for you current and future endeavours You clearly don't mind work

I really do try to be a decent person in life. Very much treat people how I like to be treated, do not take any joy in peoples downfalls etc but today I found out that a Company I was imperative in setting up in late 2023 and was very proud of at the time, only to be forced out by the other directors whilst they owed me several thousand £ have been forced to close (I did get most of my money back FYI) Essentially I was used for my Transport Management and O Licences until they applied for their own licences and brought a cheaper TM in who didn’t argue back 🚌 They’ve been cancelling many bookings and owing a good amount of money to their customers since February it seems, I just can’t help but feel a little bit smug as everything I warned them would happen trying to run as they wished to actually has now happened, including it completely going under. This brings an end to a slightly sour chapter of my business/working life, knowing I won’t have to see those coaches around anymore and constantly be reminded of it all 🤷‍♂️

One of my other ventures ‘The Bus Bistro’ was at The Albert Hall last night with 28 paying passengers (34 passengers around tables) to see Cirque du Soleil: Alegria in a new light 🎪 First picture a follower very kindly DM’d me, he walked past & thought he recognised the Starliner as he was heading to the same show! Second picture was from my Business partner who was also on the trip himself and isn’t half bad really 🤩📸 Had some amazing feedback this morning via our FB page too, might just be onto something here 😅
