It’s not that he doesn’t agree with our religious beliefs, it’s that he has time and time again refused to apologize for going out of his way say that “Mormons aren’t Christian” only hours after a targeted mass shooting that killed 4 of our brothers and sisters and that he then turned around to tokenize us by saying “I’ve got a bunch of mormon friends! I went on a mormon podcast! My lawyer is a mormon!” rather than offer a simple apology. On top of all of that, when he’s confronted about it, he doesn’t even extend us the courtesy of using the full name of the church, and throw us in with “Jews, Trans, and Gays” as people he loves but doesn’t “support or agree with.” Why would any Latter Day Saint vote for someone who won’t give them the dignity of a 50 character apology, much less spell out the full name of the church? He has no right to our vote.
Ian@Iwendtster

Imagine choosing to vote for a closet liberal Marxist who will sell us out and make you mask up with the next plandemic in a heart beat just because @oldstatemark doesn’t agree with your religious beliefs. Idc if he believes LDS. Does he respect freedom? That’s what matters.

Something which is missed on the term “redpill” is that it is fundamentally about aligning yourself with reality, not about how “based” or far right you are. For example, if you’re someone who says something like “the only solution for the United States is clerical fascism with Eastern Orthodoxy as the state religion.” And I’ve met those who can tell me a thousand things about how you envision this state looking, how it would solve all these problems, and give me all these metaphysical and political justifications for such a niche ideology as this, and dozens of others like it. However, start to ask “so, how do you plan on actually implementing this ideology? What steps are you taking to get it implemented? What is your actual plan here?” And you will inevitably get something back in return that is far less fleshed out, that typically involves some level of just saying “my ideas are so correct that if I simply explain them to enough people, they will all agree and then convert to both my religious and political system, and when we have enough converts the system simply changes to my system.” There’s going to be very little acknowledgment of the realities here for this person, such as that less than 1% of all people in America are a part of his religion and a fraction of that percent would even come close to agreeing with him on everything else he believes. But these people exist, and I’ve met them and those like them many, many times because of the circles I travel in. Because the Right Wing is full of people, particularly the far right, who are completely blue pilled. When faced with the choice of accepting harsh realities and realism, they instead opted for taking the matrix in their mind of living out in a fantastical little daydream of their mind, satisfied enough with this, rather than waking up and realizing that at best they’ll maybe get a tiny fraction of what they want, and that’s only if they worked incredibly hard and intelligently as a political actor, which they rarely do. In short, taking the Redpill means actually living in reality and working to get your politics implemented in real life, not how far to the upper right quadrant can place yourself on the political compass.

@natemaklocklin Believing a certain way about immigration has absolutely no standing on anyone's salvation. Throwing away God's plan for gender, marriage, and the family in favor of "trans and queer liberation," among other things, will lead to apostasy or worse.

Apart from the rest of the stupidity in this post, it’s genuinely idiotic to talk about doctrinal or “moral” drift in a Mormon context. Our religion was made to evolve over time! Change—further light and understanding—is our doctrine!
Ralph C Hancock@RalphCHancock

The problem with radical acceptance in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: Although there is no movement that is immune to moral drift, we as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints need to do better at recognizing movements and sentiments that are not compatible with our shared faith. Could you imagine devout followers of Jesus Christ during his mortal ministry promoting the idea that God does not care if you continue in sin or reject his teachings as long as it makes you happy? That the most important thing to God is that you are free to “express yourself” in a way that is praised by the secular world? Even if at its core it is a denial of God’s divine hand in creation of the spirit and body? It is obvious that Jesus Christ would teach that we should not judge those that have gender dysphoria, but that is only half the story. He would teach those with gender dysphoria that He loves them, but also that gender is an eternal and immutable characteristic that should not, and more importantly cannot, be changed or altered. We should love those that are confused, but we should not encourage, support, or promote confusion. The Family Proclamation is doctrine and the Lord’s revealed answers for questions regarding gender identity, same-sex marriage, and those that seek to identify as transgender. These are not open questions in the faith and they are not subject for debate. They have been settled for thousands of years. Without fully getting into the weeds this post, I’d like to ask why those who claim to be devout members such as Richard Ostler (@Papa_Ostler) would be reposting the Salt Lake Tribune’s (@sltrib) article about “LGBTQ latter-day saints” trying to find space within the church to live outside the bounds the Lord has set? Would those same members repost a puff piece about a middle-aged man seeking to find space within the church to worship multiple deities at the same time? Probably not. They would recognize that practice as a rejection of one of God’s fundamental teachings, yet they are unable to draw the same conclusion about promoting the LGBTQ movement, especially the transgender movement. According to God’s teachings, there is no such thing as a “transgender” individual, there are individuals who are confused about an essential part of their identity. They need our love and support, but both of those should be grounded in supporting and encouraging them to live according to God’s law, not participating in the game of pretend that the modern left has engaged in. This is another example of the subversion of Christlike love into a modern, and secular, idea of inclusion. If we are to love as Christ did, we ought to start by both living and teaching the principles that He teaches. There is room for all to come unto Christ and we want everyone to feel welcome at church and other social gatherings, but that does not require members to pretend that God’s laws are not eternal and that individual’s feelings supersede God’s laws and teachings. As for policies regarding bathroom usage and other sensitive areas, the feelings of the women who use them should be what is taken into account. It is not transphobic to state the reality that there are only two genders and that one's gender is eternal and that is what dictates who can use what facility. Though an individual may struggle with that identity, it is far more loving to encourage them to live according to the truth. The article by the Salt Lake Tribune contains several logical fallacies, misrepresentations, and a willful ignorance of basic church doctrine. The most egregious of which is likely the claim that there is no scriptural basis for the belief that you cannot change your gender (a biological fact) or for the belief that engaging in homosexual activity is sinful. Both of these claims are unequivocally false and I would invite all of those that reposted this article to explain why modern liberalism should supersede revelation and scripture? I would hope that those that engage in this activity in good faith will come to see that it should not, and in turn, do more to keep modern secularism out of Christ’s church.

@natemaklocklin I think there's a pretty big difference between disagreeing with policy made by man and disagreeing with God and His divine plan for us, which is what you've done countless times. Brutal

@natemaklocklin They don't make every statement, but they may be aware of it. One thing that they're most definitely aware of is the Family Proclamation, which affirms that there are only two genders (which are eternal and unchanging!) and that marriage is only to be done between man and woman.

@natemaklocklin Do you think the First Presidency and the Twelve are responsible for every single piece of media & literature that's released? Either way, anything involving immigration is a policy decision liable to change, unlike the Family Proclamation which you willingly ignore

@natemaklocklin Statements released that are meant to support policy decisions made by Church HQ. I fail to see how this has anything to do with the eternal truths of the Family Proclamation, Nate.

Blake’s calls to "play nice" ignore reality. I can't tell whether he is naive or gaslighting the public. Unilateral disarmament is a tactical surrender. States like Massachusetts aren't going to redistrict blue seats to red in the name of "fairness." Blake shouldn't be trading away conservative seats in Utah while the other side plays for keeps. It’s time for Blake to stop the self-justification and join the actual fight.
Lindsay Aerts@LindsayOnAir

#CD2 candidate @KariLisonbee and her supporters have been hitting @ElectBlakeMoore on his early role on @BBforUT, the group that pushed Utah's anti-gerrymandering law, Prop 4. He calls it an easy criticism, and argues that his position on redistricting has been "principled." Full episode this Sunday on Inside Utah Politics on @abc4utah.
