@eleventhturning Indeed! The very purpose of the arts is to keep us connected to the core of our humanity.

To be clear, this is bad! It's unhealthy to be so abstracted away from the impact of your labor, especially when you work in the arts.

there’s a difference between dreams and visions; the latter occurs very rarely, but is often of serious importance or striking prescience in the last year, two visions have availed themselves to me the first, i received sometime in the very early hours of sunday, december 1, 2024. it was impossible for me, at the time, to grasp its implications - but this vision radically altered the trajectory of my life the second, i received sometime in the very early hours of tuesday, october 14. 2024. it, like the first, was unambiguous and direct: nothing fantastical, nothing symbolic or abstract of course i don’t yet know what it “means,” but it had the distinct look-feel that characterizes it as a vision (v rarely premonitionary, typically directional), rather than a dream

@bonkydog How do you differentiate your use of flags from planned dates?

@jkorentayer basically I use a flag whenever I'm tempted to set a fake due date just to keep something on my radar

big fan of OmniFocus's new Planned Date field a plan is not a deferral or a deadline. this is good for things that are scheduled to happen on a certain day (on calendar)

@david_perell By design, this is the purpose of “the world” — as something which each individual can demonstrate whether or not they have yet attained an inner state of spiritual maturity, or if they still need their hand held to be taken across the street (metaphorically speaking).

The people I admire most have a way of escaping the bubble of modern culture. Some via religion, some via old books, some via time in nature. Without such an escape, propaganda wins. You stop thinking for yourself. Modern delusions grow into an all-consuming mind virus.
