James Kynge (@JKynge), Senior Research Fellow for China and the World with the Asia-Pacific Program, Chatham House (@CHAsiaPacific): From an European perspective, 40% EU total foreign trade passes through the SCS, compared with the Strait of Hormuz, Europe is far more reliant on the SCS than it is on the Strait of Hormuz. Considering the significant reliance over the trade surplus in the rest part of the world, Kynge believes China is a stabilizing factor to the world.
