@trouble_man90 It's all word games. They attack dems, then say dems are MAGA so they can say they attack the right. They're a bunch of privileged babies who want to be the alt-left but the movement is too hostile to it's own tent to get a seat at the table.

Federal officials have served subpoenas to Marxist political influencer Hasan Piker and CodePink cofounder Susan Medea Benjamin as part of a wider investigation into whether U.S. organizations and leaders violated U.S. laws and sanctions in supporting Cuba's communist regime, Fox News Digital has learned. foxnews.com/politics/feds-…

I don't expect you have a link to any of it, do you? Sadly, as a fulltime layman with a job, it's hard to scrub that many hours of video.

@jlartweets @mehdirhasan He says this about the British monarchy like every other week lmao. Hes used it consistently over the course of his streaming career as a means to call out and demean ethnocentric/ ethno puritanical ideals. Orthodox Jewish settlers are categorically ethnocentric by admission.

1. What do you mean "nope"? Bernie is indeed the most popular Jewish politician in America. You on the other hand came fourth in the New Jersey Democratic gubernatorial primary with 12% of the vote. 2. Piker apologized for his 9/11 remarks. And he didn't refer to Jews as "inbred" but to anti-Palestinian, far-right orthodox Jews in Israel. It's offensive I admit, and not a phrase I would use, but in the interests of full information and fairness Piker is a generally foul-mouthed streamer who uses it for others, for non-Jews too, so it wasn't antisemitic in intent and he clearly wasn't referring to Jews in general. 3. Be honest - you hate Piker not because of his antisemitism but because of his anti-Zionism, as you never get this mad when Trump and top Republicans are regularly saying openly antisemitic things. 4. Talking of hate preaching, aren't you the guys who your own fellow House Dems reportedly got mad at for saying a "shit" thing about US Muslim religious leaders being to blame for terrorism? politico.com/news/2023/10/1…
Rep Josh Gottheimer@RepJoshG

Nope. Hasan Piker is a proud antisemite who said “America deserved 9/11” and referred to Jews as "inbred." His voice should have no place in our political discourse and all elected officials should condemn his rhetoric. We can’t lend credibility to figures who preach hate.

Okay, I got about an hour, so this might be a little long winded. If you see a lot of typos, I didn't have time to proof and I type like crap, some days. That said, I had a few minutes to think about what I want to try and aim for as a target in this interaction, and because I'm in good faith, I'll tell you how I want this to go in an ideal but realistic way. Also I'm going to explain where I'm coming from because I don't want to manipulate anyone into agreeing with me, I want you available to have better conversations than any of us *have* been having. I don't need your capitulation, I want your understanding. First, I'm not going to convince you, here, now, or today. That's not how belief works, especially on emotionally charged topics. What I want to do is open you up to making new observations that might lead you to changing your own mind, particularly within the Free Palestine movement, but the online social/communist left in general is pretty rife with problems, right now. Knowing you from at least your content, I think it's safe we both agree, the means and the ends should be relatively aligned, and I just don't see that coming out of a huge chunk of the movement. I'm not going to punch someone in the face for calling my mother a whore, that's not the right response. This is a crude example, but I'm going somewhere with it (foreshadowing and all that). My view of the Israel Palestine conflict (which continues onto Israel in general) is that the free Palestine movement fell into a trap from two different types of actors. The first comes from the right, and I'd been gently trying to pull my most leftist friends away from the Genocide word in the early days. But it wasn't a fundamental disagreement, it was me understanding what happens when you exaggerate or prematurely make a call of harm of victimization, I know Israel's right wing is pretty blood thirsty about this and I never doubted if genocide was on the table. What worried me is that if you claimed it too early and were wrong, it'd give people reasons to ignore your movement when they started towing the line, and that's exactly what seemed to happen from my perspective. We can't call all war crime genocide just because genocide is a war crime. The other trap I see is that grifters who's priority is money from being a political influencer. Is your fundamental position is anti-conservative and anti-traditional US policy, it's super easy to pass as someone on the left. There's this cool old series of videos Ian Danskin from Innuendo Studios did on Gamer Gate called 'why are you so angry' - It covers pretty well what happened in Gamer Gate, but it makes a really interesting observation that bad actors on the internet have learned to veil their hostility in a potentially legitimate cause to vanish and hide behind other figures. And that's where Hasan seems to be. He hides behind you, or Medhi, or whoever. There's a litmus test being pushed to conform or "fuck you." I can gladly post from my replies the deep conversations I've had just today. I doubt you approve of the term "Ziotard" And I'm telling you right now, I'm seeing a lot of this behavior from the online left. There's a lot of grifting. I really want to express everyone needs to move away from using the words Zionist for this reason. There's people you definitely don't agree with in your midst using that word. One way I know because one of them is in my personal life and I will gladly expand in private if you'd like. I think it's important to look down and see where you're standing on the board and to sanity check your work on anything important as much as you reasonably can. I've been doing this, and I'm sliding around the left side of the spectrum as I learn and grow more, but here's something I can say that I don't see anyone else saying: I want the fighting to stop. I don't want to fight MAGA. Or you. Or the left. Or the Free Palestine movement. I think both the Israeli and the Palestinian citizens are worthy of my empathy. I want a two state solution with neither involved in the security of the other. A world stage version of putting them in separate corners for a decade or three, because there's not a better answer on the table and millions upon millions of people know this region as their only home. Yes, this includes getting Israel settlers out of the West Bank. In the last decade I have watched many of my independent/libertarian friends fall apart when they over-committed to the MAGA cause and now I'm watching the left do what appears to be the same thing, along with some of those friends to the glee of another group of people who hate "Zionists." None of these groups are monoliths, and that's the trap. Even MAGA's never been one thing, it's a collection of very distinct hostilities that all thought *they* were the in group and they're finally starting to see everyone's got a rug under them. Now people like Hasan are putting rugs out on the left and we're vulnerable to it, too. Our own biases leave us blind to trust those we've known for years. Sometimes they're liars. Sometimes they change. All that said, I just want you open to the idea that you have blind spots. To look for them. If you genuinely believe Hasan is a great altruistic guy, you're welcome to put down your argument and receipts you think might convince me -- because I can be convinced of things, it happens all the time -- but right now, watching how he handles criticism alone causes me concern and they way you lumped all his critics into far right activistic haters also was alarming, and I've seen other tweets in the past that also have soured me. These are the wrong means, this is what I want to see you not do. Doing this shuts down information you might need, and I do understand there's a limit. The answer is to log off, not assign hostility to groups. If you want me to come up with explicit things Hasan's done to raise my concerns, I totally can do that, but I'm not a pro-researcher and it might take me some time. But it's hard having found my own examples within his body of work (that I didn't save at the time) to have these engagements unless somehow he was running a 20 minute bit and the context is somewhere outside of that. My biggest criticism of the left is we keep playing by the right's rules of punitive hostility, instead of distilling our problems down to places we agree, and coming with productive solutions. I want you to consider that maybe, just maybe, it's not the job of some random guy without the resources on hand and commenting on twitter to give you a nuanced takes on your most precious political issues and trying to eject them as part of an evil group when they can't seems really bad to me. You can just dismiss them and move on while doing your best to get it right. If it wasn't clear, I'll state it outright, in none of this do I think you, Vadim are lying. But I do think you're wrong about some stuff, and what I hope your takeaway from this is, is that you'll spend more time listening to the other side. Sadly, I can't find a whole lot of pro-Israel people to give the same pushback because most of the people I actually know are either slightly pro-Palestine or share a lot of my observations. I literally can't find anyone saying Israel's justified in a genocide. Though a chunk of that is because they stopped listening when that word was an exaggeration and they just don't think it's that bad, yet. It seems to be mostly (but not exclusively) a boogie man group of pro-Israel people. I'm having trouble finding anyone who's chomping at the bit to let Israel wipe Gaza off the map that isn't in Trump's government. Lastly, if you'd rather move this to a DM, I'm not super well versed with modern messaging nuances, but I'm open if we can safely communicate a way to reach each other on a platform where your DM's work, but given your the public figure with most of the risk, I'll leave that ball in your court.

Hey dude, thanks for this. As much as I disagree with so much that you've said here, I really appreciate that you're coming to me in a chill, respectful manner and the fact that you'd go through the trouble to write something this detailed and thoughtfully laid out --- well, it makes me feel like you appreciate my work and that's very cool :) IDK what I can really say to alter your perspective, at least not at the drop of a hat, but I guess that I can say that if you've at all valued how I've approached things like my research, and the topics I've expounded on -- I can promise you that I've taken the same care in relation to things you've brought up here. If you want to talk more, I'd be happy to, altho it's totally not necessary! I'd definitely have some follow up questions. I would have just gone ahead and DMed you rather than writing back here with a long ass reply, but I have this weird thing going on where I can't access my DMs on here RN. So if you want to you can reach me on my Discord of the same name (HeyItsVadim). Again, no worries if that's as much as you wanted to chat! All the best :)

Ignore @trastlol - He's being a dipshit and going down the line trying to snipe all any left criticism. Ironically he just took a weird flailing shot at me in another thread. He's all love this post looking for someone to bite. You'll see it scrolling around. That said, yeah, the purity testing comes from the same place as the right's loyalty testing. It's designed to insulate the group when it can't win on convincing arguments. There's a lot of binary thinking going on with all of it, too. They're just pointing and trying to guess who's good and bad based on how their skin color is treated in the US, blissfully unaware that the lived experiences there change the context. The push to Steelman Hasan, and make him invaluable to the movement reeks of how MAGA pushed Trump, and while it's currently failing to gain much real traction, it's something we need to watch out for, because a lot of the pro-palestine people have a blind spot for anyone vocally pro-muslim or pro-socialism.
