@HMutseyekwa They use those for their efficacy. They have brooms but for some reason every work place has its beliefs and they swear on those palm leaf brooms would you believe ?

Mayor, residents understand the long-running concerns around @zinaraZW disbursements. However, questions are also arising over council’s own priorities and accountability in the management of Harare’s roads. Harare City Council recently announced that generated more than US$1.1 million in fines in 2025 through traffic enforcement operations. The figures demonstrated council’s capacity to aggressively enforce by-laws and mobilise revenue from motorists and commuter operators. It is against that background that explanations around ZINARA alone are no longer sufficient, particularly when major roads within the central business district continue to deteriorate. While council may not control all road user fee allocations, residents still expect visible intervention, consistent maintenance efforts and clear public accountability from city authorities responsible for urban administration. The concern is that enforcement against motorists appears faster and more visible than progress on the roads those same motorists are paying to use.

Dear @JMafume, this your world class city. @HarareResidents Trust reports that this is the tarmac on Mbuya Nehanda Street and Robert Mugabe Way on both sides. Kombis are daily persecuted for non-compliance with council traffic by-laws but the council is neglecting the roads that matter to ensuring easy traffic movement in the central business district.

Yesterday in Harare’s city centre, I watched a vendor finish the last sip of his drink and casually throw the plastic bottle onto the pavement right in front of me. To his surprise, and that of the other vendors nearby, I picked it up and told him to dispose of it properly in a bin. I then walked through several streets searching for a rubbish bin to throw it away, but I could not find a single one. Mayor @JMafume, the city urgently needs more bins along the pavements, and they must be emptied regularly throughout the day. Clean cities are built through both public responsibility and proper municipal infrastructure.

@Stella_grooves @JMafume @JMafume, with your permission, Your Worship, may I have my team of architects visit the site to see what they can design to accommodate "vana Mai vedu", a marketplace that's both convenient and accessible? This would be pro bono, as a former Special Interest Councillor.

An Open Letter to Mayor of Harare, vaMafume, Dear Harare1, @JMafume, I visit home frequently, and my first port of call is to madzimai epamusika wepa Clyde Road in Eastlea. Their names are Amai Teksure, Amai Lloyd and Amai Danga. Their reason I visit these ladies simple. I too, was once a vendor, at the very same musika. Ndaitengesawo madomasi nemuriwo after school. And back when Eastview Gardens was under construction, taitengesa Sadza to the builders. I recall when I was young, at every election cycle, the council came and promised to build a proper market stall for us with water and ablution facilities. Nearly 3 decades later, nothing has changed. No market has been built. The surroundings are filthier than ever. It breaks my heart that these women, who are such an integral part of my life story, who helped look after me when I was just a child pamusika, are still there, still there pamusika but nothing has changed for them. Clyde shops itself is now an eyesore. What will it take kucheukawo madzimai aya? Today you know their names. They are Amai Teki, Amai Lloyd and Amai Danga.

Dear @JMafume, We appreciate the line marking machine which has vastly improved the ground marking at Rufaro. Could you kindly allocate $1000, inclusive of import duty, for a digital scoreboard for Rufaro Stadium, considering the cost of purchasing from China is less than $600?

WATCH | It is worrying to see small permanent tuckshops being built right next to the durawall of Kwayedza High School in Highfield Ward 26, leaving very little space between the buildings and the main road. It is difficult to understand how the council approved this. It is unfair to the school and the surrounding community. If people strongly criticise such developments in areas like Mabelreign, why is there often silence when the same thing happens in high-density suburbs? Recreational spaces, school land, industrial sites, and wetlands continue to be converted for other uses, but this often goes unnoticed because it happens out of public view. Why does strong public reaction usually only come when it affects low-density areas? @JMafume

So the City of Harare is seeking to convert a golf course to housing stands? The pros and cons depends on where you grew up. If you came from machonyonyo and evolved into a councillor, you will argue that having stands on a golf course is better than a golf social amenity. That’s the kind of crew presiding over urban settlements today. They won’t realise that golf courses are an economy in itself. A better compromise is to do what Ken Sharpe is doing at Warren Hills - building a golf estate. You keep the amenity, and introduce some housing around it.

That being said ,whoever is looking for stands there must abandon that area and go elsewhere ,as council we wont approve or allow that development .We are not involved the origination of this and whoever did knows they were taking chances.Thank you for your attention to this matter

@bla_bidza @KingJayZim The golf course is state property not council .The notice is from the gvt itself. The reason for the advert is the public to prefer objections in terms of the law .Please dont just weep follow the process.

find attached the responseThe clinic has confirmed that there have been no reported stock-outs of either paediatric or adult ART regimens. For the 4-year-old child in question, a DTG-based paediatric regimen is available. Appears to have been a communication issue. The caregiver is kindly requested to bring the child back to the clinic so that appropriate assistance can be provided.

Hi Crime Watch. I am taking care of my late sister’s 4-year-old child, who was born HIV positive. The child’s mother passed away when she was 2 years old. Yesterday, we went to Budiriro 1 Poly Clinic to collect the child’s medication, but we were told that the medicine was out of stock. Is there anyone else facing the same problem? We also checked at a pharmacy and were told that each bottle of the medication costs US$50. @MoHCCZim

A small appreciation post for something that should really be the norm. Before people start saying “standards are in hell”, hear me out 😆 Kudos to my colleagues at @zetdc_official ZESA and also to Mayor @JMafume and @cityofharare2 Please don’t @ me. Since landing back on 4 April, we have not had a single power cut in this hood. Not one minute. Whatever changed, well done. Maybe Hwange Thermal Power Station is finally fully firing, maybe Kariba’s water levels are carrying the hydro side properly again, maybe somebody somewhere finally tightened a few bolts that needed tightening. Whatever the reason, credit where it’s due. Long may it continue. On the water side, @CityofHarare and Mayor Mafume are also not doing too badly compared to what residents had become used to. Yes, I still have to supplement with borehole water thrice a week, and yes the tap water still arrives looking like weak tea at times, definitely not something to drink straight from the tap yet. But at least water is coming through more consistently than before. That probably sounds like a low bar, because it is. Basic services are supposed to be basic. We should not really be applauding electricity staying on or water coming out of taps. That should be standard procedure in any functioning city. But Zimbabwe has a way of normalising dysfunction for so long that when some level of normal service delivery finally returns, even quietly, people naturally acknowledge it. Not with wild celebrations, just cautious appreciation and a small “tsitsitsitsi”. Hopefully one day we get uninterrupted power, clean drinkable water and proper service delivery without anyone feeling the need to post about it at all. #TheKingIsAround #HappinessIsOurBusiness #MotoMuzhinji

@bbmhlanga @JMafume @JMafume I just paid our bill today, by my biggest shock was discovering that after a smart meter was installed, water is still levied on the monthly bills , that's double billing and your people say that's how the system was set. So far no solution.
