U.S. District Judge Henry Autrey, a George W. Bush appointee, was not pleased with Josh Devine's argument that he couldn't make it to the court hearing in time and wanted a few days. The judge suggested he could've consulted with any of the asst AGs in St. Louis to be present.

@LizCGil I have to laugh at that position, because the analog is always oral argument. Friends, even full time litigators (trial or appellate) aren't confronted surprise oral argument that they had no way to see coming.

@jeffgamblephd And there’s clearly the horror story of the person who didn’t happen to see the email before everything was shut down, which is so interpersonally awful. But without mandated attendance for a termination meeting (also awful) I don’t know how you avoid it.

@rmccarthyjames I also think it's funny because nobody saw a "before" shot for the trim before it was painted. Our old house has painted trim upstairs because it was so beat up. Same with the flack for replacing original floors.
