Tired of restarting PC games every time you swap controllers? Here's a DirectInput wrapper DLL that implements hotplugging for games that don't do it themselves: github.com/jmgao/dhc

Before we start the nomenclature discourse -Numpad notation is objectively better and universal (only exceptions are Tekken, and MK) -Numpad is easy as hell to explain, even a little kid gets it. -Nobody knows what a "forward fierce" is Fight me

I thought we all learned from that data guy that we shouldn't retweet people who draw random red lines over assembly? 😆

Also I sort of want to know who the “advocates” are for 90% nuts butter. Is it, like, five guys? Who really, really, really care about peanut butter? Enough that they’d eschew their kids’ birthday parties because they had to read the amici briefs to the Supreme Court case?

(This is how hiragana and katakana syllabaries work in Japanese: the name of the character and the sound it makes are the same, and with minor exceptions not relevant here, they are not context sensitive.)

Liam, who is an emerging reader in English, was clued on to Star Wars by a classmate. “See I can read now. C3PO. R2D2. This is how the rest of English should work. None of the stupid non-rule rules.”

@deeps1ne You also took 10 minutes and a pair of binoculars to find the ladder to enter tomb of the giants.

@mikegapinski Uploaded what I've got now at github.com/jmgao/wardencl…, the other thing I want to do is upstream a patch to AOSP to make it so that you can change tethering ip etc. with a sysprop or setting. My guess is that I've got a 50% chance of success there

@mikegapinski Where do you need help? My current plan is to implement mjpeg (and audio/input) in what I have now so that it's easier to sideload (a single binary with http(s)/websocket server + the implementations, along with embedded html/js). Maybe this could replace your lighttpd, etc.?

I also can’t wrap my head around how good 2023.7.1 is. I am starting to cook the next version this week, not a lot of changes but I expect to improve the performance of the virtual display 😎

@mikegapinski Sure! I was going to reach out to you earlier, but I wanted to poke around with h.264 first before proposing something that would suck (that indeed does suck)

@ID_AA_Carmack IMO having the actual source be transferred over bluetooth seems like a feature that almost no one would use "properly". People will just ship a stub that redirects to their webpage for way easier updates and not having to worry about shrinking designer output to fit in flash

@ID_AA_Carmack Oops, I stripped some context out due to tweet size limits: it's surprising to me because webusb does this! I think the difference is plugged in devices vs "900 bluetooth devices visible to a laptop in the googleplex/college dorm"

Installing and configuring a custom app for every smart device is clearly not great. Some devices let you connect to them as a WiFi access point to control them via a web page, but that is very cumbersome. A web interface feels like it should be good enough for a lot of things \

@ID_AA_Carmack and that means it would have never been implemented, because chrome developers sitting in mountain view are in the worst possible case. Maybe COVID changes things up a bit, but the worst case scenarios (e.g. college students in dorms) seem common enough to make it not worth it

@ID_AA_Carmack It's somewhat surprising to me that WebBluetooth doesn't define a profile that lets devices recommend a URL for the page to control things, but my guess is that it'd be nearly unusable if you're in a high density environment
