🏇SHEZA ALIBI: 109 WFA Performance Rating ⏱️⚖️📊 Produced one of the more remarkable performances in recent years with a stunning win in the G1 Doncaster, an elite world-class performance 🌏 That's already adjusted to weight-for-age and therefore accounts for her 49kg. It is the highest rated performance by a 3YO in Australia or New Zealand in at least the past decade. She was 10.7 lengths off the lead at the 800m, still 5.8 lengths back at the 400m and near last, yet had the race won by the 200m. That rating improved on her 105.3 Randwick Guineas win, reflected by a 4-length faster overall time and much faster finishing speed. She is clearly the highest-rated Doncaster winner of the past decade, both at the weights carried and on a WFA-adjusted basis. Prior to that, Winx ran 111.5 when winning the 2016 Doncaster as a 4YO, having already run 113 earlier that season in her first Cox Plate win. Sheza Alibi is still only a 3YO filly and will line up as a 4YO by the time the Cox Plate comes around this spring. What made her win even more noteworthy, especially from a future perspective, was the combination of such fast overall time and sustained finishing speed. She ran +12.9 lengths above standard overall and +4.4 for her final 200m. That speed profile is exceptionally rare and says that 2000m will hold no concerns. There is every reason to think she can be just as effective, if not better at that trip. The Cox Plate is the obvious spring target from a racing purist’s perspective, but the lure of an extra $1m+ in prizemoney for first place in the Golden Eagle (1500m) will likely see that race enter the equation.
