i have never seen any social media platform try and push their "promote" feature as hard as TikTok in the past couple weeks TikTok's entire identity is that they are the pioneer of the FYP and "interest media" now they want you to pay to "test new niches" as if that's not their algorithms entire purpose to do that for you anyway similar to when Netflix made you have to connect to the same home wifi every week to make sharing accounts incredibly hard, this will be a test of how far consumers will bend to new "pay to play" norms i hope we don't find ourselves paying $1000's to start a new accounts on social media in 5 years
