Similarly (analoguely?) I feel that the problem of modernity is the proliferation of CHOICE. There's no "scripts", no "guard-rails" anymore: everything is a CHOICE left at the feet of the individual. Kids, marriage, monogamy, career, religion — it all points back to you.
