Web3 security is catching lots of eyes, mainly because top security pros are all over Twitter, flaunting life-changing payouts from audits and bug bounties.
But creative devs and protocol designers are getting stupid payouts as well and the market space for new ones is massive. With the market getting hotter and tooling getting stronger, super skilled developers are more necessary than they ever have.
So, even though those security payouts look tempting, dive into making or improving tools or get involved with DeFi protocol integration. It’s still incredibly under-tapped and the amount of top smart developers who are market-aware are still crazy rare.

Well first you have the whole WalletConnect v2 fiasco which wagmi provides poor documentation on changes regarding new implementation in all documentation versions, of course the breaking changes from v1 to v2 which have some unnecessary naming convention changes (i.e. useContractRead to useReadContract), viem breaking changes to syntax from 0.12.0 to v1 and v1 to v2 (making migration hell), support for wallet connect libraries absolutely gone in v2 (no mention of update in docs) which will leave some libraries to eventually lose support altogether, support for prepare contract write abandoned regardless of best-practice, abandonment of simplicity and a charge towards making an uber-niche product against the original vision of the product, Tanstack being an unnecessary cherry on top. Makes for an overall enormous mess to debug and work with.
