Throwback: 12/19/01 Marshall vs East Carolina in the 2001 GMAC Bowl. The Herd came back and won after trailing 38-8 at halftime. This is the third-largest bowl game comeback in college football history. Leading The Herd was Byron Leftwich, with 576 passing yards and 5 touchdowns. Doug Marriott had 15 catches, 234 yards, and 1 touchdown. Marshall’s 64-61 victory in double overtime still stands as the highest-scoring bowl game in college football history.
