Moving React to the server was a mistake. I've never had a more miserable experience than using @remix_run and @nextjs these days. Can we forget the last 10 years of ""progress"" in JS land and go back to @rails? EVERYONE was happier back then

Vim Quick Search: Use '/search_term' to find and 'n' to jump to the next instance. 'N' takes you backwards. Plus tip, the search term is stored in register '/', try this ':s/<C-r>//foo/g'

@cmar It's an abstract data type used to control access to a common resource by multiple threads, but that's not important right now. Also, don't call me Shirley.

What's a semaphore? I've been waiting 25 years to ask the question since my Computer Architecture professor made that joke. At our on-site meeting, someone mentioned they needed a semaphore and I shouted out "What's a sema for?" Not sure anyone got the joke.

I'm pretty sure that hearing aids first function isn't to help the wearer hear better, but instead to slowly over the course of a day, remove earwax by clogging the in ear speaker portion several times per day.

As a person with a southern accent…when an actor/actress has a really bad fake southern accent, it feels… I don’t know how to describe it. You want it to stop but you kind of don’t because you’re blown away by the self confidence it must take to do it.

Learning to be deaf is hard. Frustration 982: Today, I had my alarm set, and instead of hearing it, wife woke me telling me it was going off. I’ve had and used this alarm clock for 27 years. Even walking up to it to turn it off, it was inaudible. Yet loud enough to wake my wife.

@j_c_fitz How about a deadly viral infection that isn’t airborne, but can spread via contact or water droplets. Oh wait, nevermind… Maybe radioactive spider bites? Wait, also been done. I give up. Chew Chew Motherfucker

@pragprog Composition. At any point, I may need to get differing things to happen based on different content/contexts. A CLI allows me to make changes/decisions based on differing inputs and change outputs based on differing inputs. No IDE can replace all use cases/command line tools.

What do you think are the biggest advantages of working at the command line vs an IDE?

I try to keep my social media away from politics, but I am highly upset about Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ attack on Trans people. Governor, Trans Americans are still Americans and deserve equality. (1/2)
