I'm not shocked at the dismissal of Wayne Tinkle as @BeaverMBB coach -- just at the timing. Less than a week ago, in my story with AD Scott Barnes, I asked about Tinkle's status. His response: "He and I are talking and evaluating. We will make a decision at the end of the year. That is all I can say." What changed? Since our interview, the Beavers are 2-0 with wins over Pepperdine and San Diego. Barnes left the option of whether Tinkle will coach the finale vs. Santa Clara & the WCC tourney to Wayne. So why not wait til after those games to make the move? Coincidentally, @BelligeBeavs have been on the prowl about Barnes, Brent Blaylock and the Blueprint Sports fiasco. The Belligerent Beavs posted results from a public records request they purchased. The search produced text messages that plot a very different course than Barnes would have had you believe when Blueprint was hired to handle OSU's NIL duties last summer. Those texts make it look like Barnes backstabbed Dam Nation operator Kyle Bjornstad in the process. Could the timing of Tinkle's dismissal be subterfuge on Barnes' part to divert the news cycle?
