Your job as a tech leader now is to get claude code max, default to opus, get your local dev env setup agent friendly, then do the same for everyone on your team. Learn how to be super human and then teach everyone else.

Happy to announce that I've finally hit my stride on living a balanced life with AI. 🤣 For the past month I've pretty successfully stopped prompting into the evening and restored some relaxation.

@jnunemaker If you want FAST. Nothing is comparing to Composer-2.5 in cursor right now. (and it's relatively cheap)

Ok folks. I know I've been all in on Claude for half a year, but Codex has jumped back into the mix. I started by using it for reviews and now I'm starting to actively compare it with the same prompt to claude. Feels faster than it use to be.

@brandur No. Back on railway already. The dev experience there is just so good.

@strzibnyj Hasn’t clicked with me yet. Read the book. Still feels like I’m giving up some platform protection like security and stuff. What do you use to load balance across hosting platforms then? Cloudflare?

Resiliency is always a trade off. Deploy to two platforms so you can be available when one goes down? Now config, deploys, metrics, everything is split. You need tooling to join or extra cognitive load.

New personal record for migrating services to a new platform (under duress even). I'm thinking I'll run both platforms going forward (once railway is back up). We'll see. Also glad I haven't migrated EVERYTHING to railway just yet. Would have been a worse night.

gstack by @garrytan really wants me to apply to @ycombinator. Haha. It's a big fan of when I'm like "stop asking me questions, I know what I want to do, I just want you to help me build it". :D Also, gstack is great. Try it out.

Got my RailsWorld ticket for September! Excited to see programmer friends again. Trying to decide if I'll submit a talk or not... hilariously, I'm not sure what I'd talk about...

@jnunemaker Ominous to post this on the same day the JS ecosystem is completely getting owned by the same workflow…

Automatic gem release via github actions is so slick. I just tag and it does the rest. You can check out flipper repo to see how it works.

I enjoyed this part of the pod. Sometimes things feel complex. I appreciate how Jason always makes it simple.
David Senra@davidsenra

I love this idea from @jasonfried "Your only competition is your costs." Keep costs low, keep the team small, make stuff you want to use. You don't need the whole world: “A business is very simple. You got to make more than you spend. If you're making more than you spend, then your competition is your cost. That's what you're really in business against, how much it costs you to stay in business. It's not all the other alternatives that are on the market. You can't control what they're going to put out there, what they're going to price it at, all the things they're going to do. They're going to do what they're going to do. What I can control is how much it costs me to run my business, how much I sell my product for, and as long as I make more than I spend, I get to stay in business. And isn't that what this is all about, staying in business? That's what it's all about because I like this. I want to keep doing this. I can't keep doing it if I don't stay in business. I can't keep doing it if I make less than it costs me to make the things that I make. So I'm always thinking about the only competition I really have on an annual basis is to make sure that we make more as a company than it costs us to run the company. That's my real competition.”

We live in the wildest time. My son and I built a minecraft-ish clone in less than an hour that runs in the browser via three.js. Insanely smooth and performant. We added portals so his friends can jump to each others worlds. The websockets and world seeds + block diffs are stored in durable object in cloudflare. I just shared with some buddies and we were all like kids jumping into each others worlds and testing the limits of the game. I've never built a game in my life and my son has never coded. With @claude opus and cloudflare we had something online in less than an hour that he's already spent many more hours playing. Amazing!

@jnunemaker The underrated part is building it with your kid. Also portals between friend worlds in under an hour is the kind of casual sentence that would have sounded fake 18 months ago.
