@TykeMan595149 @dave43law @SeaEnAitch @Nigel_Farage Think you should read the excellent book ‘bloody foreigners ‘ to learn some more and dispute your low immigration claim. The Norman French, the Dutch, the Huguenots, the Irish, various waves of Jewish people escaping different situations. True that we only had controls from 1905.

@Nigel_Farage Desperate grifter jumps on bandwagon. Truth it appears is that social services were removing children from a Roma Gypsy family - so which subcontinent are you talking about. Easy getting things totally wrong as an MP when you are in the US not doing the job elected for

Today, with global IT outages, payment systems have been down, so you'd think that cash is king, right? 💷 I went in my local GAIL's Bakery store this morning, happy that I had a ten pound note in my pocket just in case the card payments system was down. But the store wasn't taking card payments or cash! I assume this is because the POS system that tracks all payments was down, and stores could not transact outside of this. Payments could still be made via the GAIL's Bakery app though. (The line between card present and card not present payments continues to blur.) This got me thinking that, as well as having a backup payment provider, in order to ensure resiliency businesses may wish to check what operating system their POS system uses. Most payment outages tend to be further down the chain, at the payment provider level, and not impacting the POS system itself - so in such cases POS systems can often still take payments offline until the payments system comes back online. Today's issue has been due to Crowdstrike, but it has only impacted Microsoft - any systems running Linux or on Apple have been fine. When thinking about resiliency in payments will we see a bigger focus on running across two different operating systems? To be so reliant on one option, that you can't even accept cash payments is a big risk to take. Businesses need to avoid the possibility of any single point of failure. Especially when it comes to payments, where making sales happen is the lifeblood of what the industry exists for.

Well said @bphillipsonMP: "The current curriculum is too narrow with too much focus on academic subjects . . . Children need music, sport, art and drama." #r4today Some of us have been saying this and writing about it for decades. Labour will also promote vocational pathways.

The shocking case of Andrew Malkinson is just one of many refutations of that favourite mantra of the right and the authoritarians that 'if you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear'. #r4today @BBCr4today

Webb’s enthusiasm for Trump is thoroughly nauseating. With sanity restored in the UK following the disaster of Johnson and Truss who were promoted by #r4today it appears they are now directing their enthusiasm for the lunatics on the other side of the pond. God help us all.

I can't believe that Andrew Malkinson, after 17 years wrongful imprisonment, is still being punished by the state. Why hasnt he received any compensation yet and is therefore struggling to live on UC ? #r4today
