i'm sure this sounds privileged coming from a usamerican, and to a certain extent it is; hope is a unique privilege that not everyone is able to afford through their fight for survival. if you are privileged enough to be able to focus on things other than pure survival, then -

last thing i will say before i close my twitter tab for the night is that you cannot ever ever lose hope no matter how hopeless things might seem. this world is worth fighting for! do not let your fear and grief and guilt dull you into submission!

going to clarify for a moment so that i don't get misconstrued: i think it is completely and perfectly reasonable to want public figures to speak out about atrocities like what is happening in west asia, and people should not be forced to make their demands more palatable -

- this anger and grief should be pointed towards more actionable measures. keep spreading awareness, donate money if you're able, attend protests, call your representatives if you're in the us. keep the people of west asia in your hearts and minds and check in on your friends

i know that the intentions behind this and the boycott are good! i know that people are angry and sad and scared, and that is a natural thing to feel. personally (and my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt, because i am just a random on the internet), i think that -
