RIP to Spirit. Idc about anyone else’s personal (and elitist) feelings toward the airline. Flying is still public transportation, and travel should not be reserved solely for the privileged.

Port-au-Prince: Tensions surrounding SONAPI, workers demand a minimum wage of up to 3,000 gourdes Workers in the industrial park are denouncing the inadequacy of their income in the face of the rising cost of living and are demanding a significant adjustment to the minimum Workers at the SONAPI industrial park demonstrated this Wednesday to demand an increase in the minimum wage, in a context of continuously deteriorating living conditions. According to reports, these workers, mostly employed in the subcontracting sector, are protesting the maintenance of the minimum wage at 685 gourdes. They consider this amount insufficient to cope with the rising cost of living, particularly the increase in fuel and basic necessities prices. They argue that this situation directly affects thousands of households dependent on this income. The protesters are demanding an adjustment to the minimum wage, which they want set between 2,500 and 3,000 gourdes. They believe that such an increase would better reflect current economic realities. During the demonstration, several roads were partially blocked near the industrial park, where groups of protesters gathered. The demonstrators then marched through several streets of the Delmas district towards the Prime Minister's office, located in Musseau. Along their route, officers from the Haitian National Police (PNH) riot control unit intervened, dispersing the crowd with tear gas. This intervention sparked anger among the protesters, who denounced what they considered an excessive use of force. So far, no official reaction from government authorities has been recorded, despite the repetition of these protest movements. Ronald André lequotidien509.com/port-au-prince…

Baron de Vastey wrote The Colonial System Unveiled (Le système colonial dévoilé) in 1814 ten years after Haiti got free. The English edition became available to the public in 2014. It took 200 years, but it’s fully available now. There is not one page where race isn't mentioned.
