I haven't spent as much dedicated time on UTSA because I've been occupied getting to know the rest of the American Conference. Today, I was on the "Off-Season After Dark" show to do a profile on UTSA's offseason & 2026 fan expectations. Here's what I'm thinking of UTSA in 2026: - They can't afford another 6-6 season or something worse. That would be catastrophic in the Jeff Traylor era. Traylor has pushed all his chips in on Owen McCown and with this being his last year, that investment needs to come through. 8+ wins would likely keep fans happy, if they fall short, it could spell disaster. - I'm intrigued by Rick Bowie's offense. I was able to see some limited film of what they're looking like on offense. It'll be important for them to start well. - Losing to TXST a 3rd straight season would draw even more concerns and deflate the fanbase really early in the season... again. - I'm excited about their portal moves in the offseason, especially on the defensive side of the ball. I expect that side of the ball to be much better in 2026, especially at CB. - I'm worried about them in 2026. For those who've followed my coverage on them for years, I'm typically optimistic for them at the start of each season. For the first time under Jeff Traylor, I'm actually concerned this thing may go the other way. I'll get more into why I think later this summer but this is how I'm feeling today.
