A platform we list some of our stuff on offered to uh, "optimize" some of our descriptions. With AI. That went about as well as you'd expect (poorly).

I used to see artists complain about maintaining their digital archive of work and thought "Ha! I'm so organized!" Twenty years later, it's "How do I not possibly have a single digital copy of this? Was the only copy stolen during my home break-in?" #publishinglife

It happens all the time. One of our distributed pubs got in touch, horrified and terrified that MacMillan had just pubbed the same book that she did the week before. She thought it would cannibalize her sales. Many authors and publishers keep this stuff close to the chest. Not us

@Autistic_Lia In DEI training, I was asked to dispel a stereotype about myself. In response, an allistic woman monologued about how she doesn't know "where on the spectrum people are and how 'capable' we are." Has worked with autistic people. I'd reframe the whole thing as coping skills.

To other autistic people, what's something about autism you think people almost never discuss that really should be talked about more?
