Absolutely loved Backrooms! Kane Parsons at only 20 has created one of the best horror films of the year and one that will be talked about for awhile! So many scares. Renate Reinsve really shows off her range here! Don’t miss this in theaters when it comes out!

WOW! I saw #Backrooms. Kane Parsons is one of our best new filmmakers! His horror movie is a mind-bending, nerve-wracking nightmare that builds tension with its surreal set design, creepy atmosphere, found-footage style, and performances by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve.

Saw it last night, and It’s as great as u hoped it would be !

Kane Parsons’ #Backrooms is wild stuff. A wholly unique and original horror film that freaks you out and creeps you out while luring you deeper into its eerie, liminal nightmare. The kind of movie that gets under your skin and stays there. For a film full of empty rooms and long hallways, I love how captivating it is from start to finish. It never gives you all the answers, and that lingering mystery makes it even more unsettling. I left the film and immediately wanted to talk more, read more and watch more about it. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve are fantastic anchors in something that is super odd and mysterious, but also very entertaining. Would definitely recommend.

#BACKROOMS: Kane Parsons directorial debut takes the YouTube series to the big screen in a incredibly strong arrival of a film. The command Kane has over the camera, the ways he builds tension, the score he helped co-compose, and the mix of VFX with his bread & butter, Blender. It’s a movie about liminal spaces, the loops we wrap ourselves up in, and can we escape the endless maze of our decisions. It’s trippy, it’s eerie, and it’s extremely effective. Talent on screen are all fully committing to it with a really fantastic performance from Chiwetel Ejiofor as Clark, a man struggling with a ton of damage and wreckage who has turned to his therapist Mary, played by Renate Reinsve - a woman desperate to help her patients all while she grapples with her own past. To tell you more would spoil the way this film deepens and descends further in the space beyond Cap’n Clark’s Ottoman Empire… Excited to see this one again. Tremendous work. Great screening from @BeyondFest and the @am_cinematheque fam. It’s out May 29th from @a24 - see it in a theater. Cant wait to explore this world more…
