@MatrixMysteries Do they not list the price on the menu? It shouldn't be a shock.

@AmiriKing She didn't swear. Didn't criticize the other kid. I don't see a problem with it.

When a young man considers the priesthood, it is often because he has a good, long-standing relationship with his parish priest.
Moving priests around every 5-7 years is making our vocations crisis worse.

@Xtopher_Uzo Absolutely. I used to prary for a visiting priest to offer Mass. Luckily all of our priests (and deacons) range from decent to excellent at homilies.

A priest once shared a story.
He said his parish is always filled during Mass. Packed church. People standing outside. Massive turnout almost every time.
Then one day, during their usual gathering of pastors, preachers, and priests in their neighborhood. He was the only Catholic priest there. So the other pastors asked him:
"Man, what exactly are you doing ?"
"How is your church always this full?"
"Your preaching must be extremely powerful."
These protestant pastors said they preach "fire sermons" every week, preach very well, preach with energy and passion, yet they still struggle with low turnout. So they assumed this Catholic priest must have some extraordinary style of preaching.
But the priest replied:
"Honestly, I don’t even think my preaching is that good."
The pastors were shocked, so they asked him:
"Then why are the people always coming?"
And the priest answered:
"They are not coming because of me. They are coming because of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.”
Wow, just wow.
That right there explains the Catholic Church.
The Holy Mass is not centered on the personality of the priest.
It is centered on Jesus Christ.
Catholics are not ultimately gathering for entertainment, motivation, or "fire preaching."
We are gathering for the Jesus Christ, who is truly present in the Holy Eucharist.

@TiffaniMarie483 Apparently I have a look that scared the children into submission when preceded by a very loud, slow, and stern-sounding "GET THE (blank) IN BED."
English

Imagine: Kids are 5.5, 4, and 2. It is bedtime but they’ve all decided to rebel simultaneously.
The 5.5 yo is jumping on the couch (not allowed).
The 4 yo is laughing maniacally.
The 2 yo is yelling for mommy and upset she can’t find her “baby”
You begin to make threats and outline consequences. No one listens. Punishments escalate, but the chaos continues.
As a loving parent, what’s your move here?
Inquiring Minds@TiffaniMarie483
My boys acted so terribly tonight I told them daddy would put them to bed. Both are crying and upset because they want me. The 4yo keeps shouting “Mommy are you really not coming up?” Really tugs at my heart strings and has me wondering if this wasn’t the best punishment.
