@kane @SFUnified @CrescendoEdGrp Grading for Equity is NOT saying HW is racist. Read my book. It's ensuring grades are accurate & classrooms rigorous & focused on learning. (& w 20K secondary students, that works out to under $6/student to have all grades be more accurate and fair!)

As @SFUnified public schools goes bankrupt from corruption and incompetence, I got more public records back showing as late as May this year they were paying "equity consultant" @JoeCFeldman at @crescendoedgrp $115k to tell them that homework is racist and 41% should be passing.

The Fiscal Stabilization Plan was a step too far. Following months of meetings during which its impact was not discussed, the plan included alarming cuts, and over three dozen students spoke out against them at Tuesday night’s meeting. thevoicesf.org/board-of-educa…

@NJGOPDiva It's neither forced floors or government-driven mandates. I should know. I wrote Grading for Equity. If @RahnforDougCo wants to know what I've written & how it makes classrooms more rigorous and a fairer meritocracy, she (or anyone) can reach out. info@crescendoedgroup.org

@CathyReisenwitz Grading for equity does NOT mean that 41% = C. Author of Voice article conceded that this info did NOT come from SFUSD but from another district, & author of "Grading for Equity" confirmed that 41% does NOT equal a C. Research clearly shows benefits! tinyurl.com/TrustTheTransc…

"Even some Democratic officeholders in San Francisco erupted in ridicule when its school board recently proposed a 'grading for equity' plan that made a score as low as 41 percent a C. Failure is harsh, but sending teenagers into the world without a basic education is neither popular nor progressive. 'In lots of weird ways, the political left has used equity to diminish high expectations for kids,' says Aldeman, the former Obama-administration official."

Very good, infuriating @riceid piece on increasingly disastrous public school outcomes in blue enclaves, if you haven't already read it nymag.com/intelligencer/…

I think @MarkMahon would want to know he got hoodwinked by small grp misrepresenting equitable grading. SF Chronicle called him out. Start w this study of 30K grades & how these practices reduced grade inflation & increased accuracy. Happy to share more crescendoedgroup.org/blog/equitable…

@MattMahanSJ Confusing tweet considering a) San Jose USD helped teachers learn these same improved grading practices & b) teachers in your city can explain what equitable grading is & how it makes grading more accurate & classrooms more rigorous. Not sure why u didn't research before tweeting

Important article by @IleanaNajarro about dynamics of the increased use of standardized testing in college admissions in lieu of grade inaccuracy, & a solution. Grades and Standardized Test Scores Aren't Matching Up. Here's Why edweek.org/teaching-learn…

To those saying too many classrooms coddle students: one solution is equitable grading. Traditional grading lets students avoid learning yet still earn good grades. Only equitable grading ensures every student is held accountable to their learning. crescendoedgroup.org/blog/equitable…

@_Felton More accurate descriptions of student knowledge then informs the educators (and students) of next steps to improve learning! Without accurate and fair grades, gaps are hidden from students & teachers.
