I’m not ‘ blaming Ukrainians’. The war was desired by American Russia hawks, who use Ukraine as a battering ram against Moscow. It has no other purpose. Zelensky was elected on a pledge of peace, but was destroyed by Banderite fanatics.@joekmorris
Joe Morris@joeKMorris

@ClarkeMicah @ChrisDYork Russia is murdering Ukrainians needlessly. Blaming Ukrainians for what Russia is doing or calling them just proxies, is despicable. Ukraine was drawn into Russia’s war- they didn’t wish that to happen. Helping Ukraine stop Russia’s war is the only moral stance.

@MartinPolanyi @ClarkeMicah 1. Ukraine wasn’t joining NATO 2. RU invaded UKR because Ukrainians dared to join the EU EU is no threat to Russia except that it shows RU is a shihole 3. Imperialist RU presumes it still rules Ukraine as it did in the USSR. That’s why it invaded 4. Ukraine is sovereign

@joeKMorris @ClarkeMicah Russia wanted an agreement with the West on Ukraine not joining NATO. Putin could have launched a full invasion against a much less organized Ukraine in 2014 and he didn't do it. The US wouldn't budge on NATO's open door policy regarding Ukraine so Putin invaded.

2014 happened and the world went back to normal. Then 2022 happened and now the russians are getting invited back to the Oscars, Opera, Olympics and this week, the Venice Biennale. Dictators use sport & art to legitimise their crimes. It’s how they survive.

@RTD8690 @SmertKatsapam @ClarkeMicah Rubbish. The govt of Ukraine wasnt anti-Russian. Ukraine never attacked Russia, in fact it wanted friendly relations with Russia. It was Russia that sought to dominate and rule Ukraine again.

@SmertKatsapam @joeKMorris @ClarkeMicah Friend. If Mexico’s government was overthrown and Chinese diplomats supported it an the anti-US government, then armed and trained the Mexican military against the USA, you can bet your ass we wouldn’t be standing around with our hands in our pockets. I don’t blame Russia

You can't teach kids anything. I have five of them — trust me on this. They don't listen to a word you say. The only thing you can do is act. They're watching everything and if you're a decent person, some of it eventually rubs off. If I tell my kids to do A, they do Z. If I tell them Z, maybe they do M. I genuinely don't know what they're going to do on any given day. You model it. That's all you've got.

@joeKMorris @ClarkeMicah @ChrisDYork No. Russia DID NOT invade Ukraine in 2014. That’s just made up rubbish. Even the CIA compromised OSCE acknowledged there were only a handful of Russian advisors in the Donbass. There were volunteers of course. Russian speakers & those sympathetic to Donbass self determination

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have carried out a major breakthrough on the front line! Ukrainian troops rapidly broke through Russian defenses in a key sector. Within just a few hours, several strategically important settlements came under AFU control. The main Russian forces found themselves trapped in operational encirclements. The enemy is in complete panic. Russian units are retreating en masse, abandoning equipment, ammunition depots, and even wounded soldiers. Some columns are simply stopping and surrendering. Roads are littered with abandoned T-72 tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, Grad rocket systems, and fuel trucks. Ukrainian assault groups are operating quickly and in perfect coordination. Artillery, drones, and infantry are functioning as a single mechanism. What the Russians spent months building is collapsing within hours.

@MBSepulveda @RTD8690 @ClarkeMicah What has that got to do with Ukraine? USA violating international law is not the fault of Ukrainians also It’s simply bizarre that imperialists can’t recognise that peaceful states are sovereign and have the right freedom and self determination Ukraine has right to join EU

The Untied States has violated the sovereignty of countless nations since it overthrew the Hawaiian queen over 100 years ago. Stop with historical ignorance. Even our own Robert E. Lee, the Confederate general predicted that the United States would become aggressive aboard and despotic at home.

@E_Vargas_MP @CeramicLar47474 @ClarkeMicah @ChrisDYork Ukraine joining EU is not “expansion”. It’s Ukraine’s right to apply. They have a right to self-determination. Russia has no right to an empire “Geopolitics” is usually just a code word for imperialism. Ukraine will ultimately win its freedom from a declining Russia

To be fair when I saw the flags in your bio I expected a search would show huge hypocrisy (most people do) with saying "invasion bad" but also saying "IRA good" and "Israel justified". Hats off to you that you are consistent. Russia should not have invaded and they should have pulled out after the first ceasefire when discussions took place in Turkey. But irrespective of what Ukraine did or didn't want, both the EU and NATO should also have recognised that expansion into Ukraine was never going to be acceptable and would be seen as a cassus belli. Indeed, it seems almost certain that they *did* recognise this and war gamed it and thought it was worth taking a risk on. It doesn't *justify* Russian action, but it does explain it. Some Ukrainians may well have wanted to join the cool kids' club and delude themselves that in NATO and the EU they'd be seen as modern and Western just like the USA (spoiler: no one thinks Slovenia or Bulgaria are modern and Western). Some Iranians may have wanted their country to have nukes. Unfortunately, the desires of certain demographics come far down the list of considerations when it comes to geopolitics.

@joeKMorris @ClarkeMicah @ChrisDYork This is very bad reasoning. The policy in assisting Ukraine has resulted in blatant theft and corruption, a huge wave of able-bodied UKR men to live abroad, and ghastly press gangs mopping up what's left for drone fodder. How do you see this ending, exactly?
