This fuel increase is economic terrorism against Kenyans. Petrol is up, Diesel is up. Transport will go up, food will go up, power backups will become more expensive, and every small business will be squeezed again. You cannot keep looting, overtaxing and mismanaging a country, then punish citizens at the pump and call it regulation.

Whoever came up with the phrase cheap is expensive certainly never fueled at Astrol Petrol Station. 1. It is 100% Kenyan, founded in 2000 by the late Thayu Kamal Kabugi and is now run by the son, James Mwangi. 2. They not only own the land their stations are built on to cut costs but also manage their stations directly rather than franchising. 3. Their fuel contains a high 91 PON rating, which is higher than the premium fuels around, including V-Power. 4. They are not only 2 - 7 shillings cheaper but also never hoard fuel whenever there are shortages. We don’t appreciate such companies enough

I know it hurts a lot, but the truth is : Fuel isn’t “free money.” Cheaper fuel means less levy revenue for roads. Kenya has 164,967 km of roads, 15.1% paved (24,868 km); Uganda has 146,000 km, 4.4% paved (6,466 km); Tanzania has 181,000 km, 8% paved (15,000 km). Kenya uses a fuel/roads levy, and cheaper fuel still means less road funding unless the gap is covered elsewhere. The choice is simple: lower taxes and cheaper fuel with slower road development, or higher levies and stronger road expansion. The opposition should stop turning every fuel conversation into cheap politics and blaming Ruto for everything.
