The latest iteration of my efforts to design a pair of #peacock themed gates. A lot more design refinement needed, but the overall idea is that the peacocks sit either side of a stylized topiary #tree. Happy that I've got on paper my various stylistic influences. #garden #design

Primeing 1 of 3 butterflies with a paint that's 96% zinc. They sell this stuff by weight, not by the litre! The threaded holes in it are so it can be invisibly fixed to a gate. #galvanizing #handmade #butterfly #craft

What are your go-to slow cooker combinations? Due to dietary intolerances I'm not very adventurous with my ingredients, but I'm trying to make some more interesting meals for my toddler. Chop stuff up & throw it in is my level of cooking skill 🫣

@BlacksmithDan There's a few, aren't there? I think St Dunstan was one - it's an area of Canterbury. I think the story is he burned the devil's nose by grabbing him with some blacksmith's tongs. Pretty sure there's a gin company with that as their branding too, as you do.

I had a successful dry fit of the leafy double gates yesterday. They align as they should & swing freely, so next step is to get them zinc treated & top coat painted. My clients are going for @FarrowandBall Railings colour. #handmade #craft #garden #landscape #madeinkent #leaf

Attaching 1 of 2 butterflies to the leafy gates with fixings that will ultimately become invisible after painting. I made these butterlfies from angle iron & designed them so they'd have a flat underside, so they'd sit flat against the gates. #design #butterfly #handmade #craft

And a nice little leaf motif latch to compliment the leaves in the gate.

@RevRichardColes The paint scheme is probably historically accurate. Black paint on ironwork has sadly become the default, through a misconception that it's the most traditional. Speaking as a blacksmith, it can be quite disheartening when clients say they want their bespoke work painted black.

Still a way to go before this sign has it's full effect with the background steel fully rusted, but the process has started. The stainless lettering will increasingly stand out at the grey steel turns orange/red.
