@meraki And yet, nobody seems to actually respond? I’m confused as to how this is intended to work. It’s hard to not get the impression that Meraki is selling fake security.

Do I know anybody at @meraki? They’ve been sitting silently on a total authentication bypass bug report for multiple months now. No response on Bugcrowd. No email response from V.Jay LaRosa. No response from Cisco PSIRT. Am I crazy, or has Cisco given up on cybersecurity?

@dane If California wants to actually reduce the cost of connectivity, then they’d make it easier to build infrastructure or create a public/open-access optical transport infrastructure. Unfortunately, our state works for CENIC and AT&T, not the people that actually live here.

Efforts to force ISPs to offer a low-speed service at a low cost demonstrate a misunderstanding about cost and speed. Lower speed doesn't cost less to deliver. If we could sell for less than our normal price, we would. arstechnica.com/tech-policy/20…

@brezina I reject the premise that an increased offering of AV taxis is somehow going to get folks to stop using or sell their private autos. Without a path forward for this persona, increased AVs just leads to more traffic and frustrated non-AV drivers, which just leads to more death.

@brezina What about the grave majority of folks that demand private automobiles? What’s the path for them?

There were more traffic fatalities than homicides in San Francisco in 2024. Every 15 hours someone is hospitalized because of a human driver The technology exists to end traffic fatalities & injuries. We should be doing everything we can to replace human-driven car trips with autonomous car trips.

@brezina Unfortunately, we’re stuck with a law-enforcement community that doesn’t believe non-driver lives are worthy of protection.

@brezina Well, I suppose there is one alternative: we could create a functional law enforcement organization, staffed with people that are not personally addicted to vehicular violence.

@NoMoreBikeLanes @SafeStreetRebel Private automobiles are no longer accessible to the “working class” in San Francisco. It’s a false narrative — these are wealthy land owners that are just miffed that society isn’t revolving around their personal desires.

@SafeStreetRebel what an elitist asshole you are. nobody was “grifting” off of advocating to keep a 100 y/o road open to working class people. it was the street closure fanatics and the anti-car nonprofits grifting hard. they are already pocketing money off consultant studies

@dane Because the USB-IF appears pathologically unable to name standards for mere mortals, they’re going to make an optical based transport and call it “USB-See”

@Scott_Wiener It’s too bad… I really liked you at first. However, I’m really mystified as to why you chose to abandon your values and your constituents over junk fees of all things.

@Scott_Wiener It’s unfortunate how, despite all this great legislative work, all I can think about when I see your face is how you sold us out for junk fees. I can’t for the life of me, understand how you thought that was a useful way to spend all your social capital.

The Governor signed into law 12 bills I authored this year, on housing, transportation, public safety, downtown revitalization, HIV prevention, LGBTQ equality & worker protections. Over my 8 years in the Senate, 87 bills I authored have been signed into law. Our work proceeds.
