Pathetic. Administration’s approach was doomed from the start. They didn’t understand or care about the cause of the war, started by demanding UKR give up territory, never acknowledged that Russia was the aggressor, bragged about slashing aid for UKR. How embarrassing.

Poland Paid $50 Billion for America’s Friendship. Turns Out That Wasn’t the Deal.
Poland has spent fifty billion dollars on American weapons. F-35s, Abrams tanks, Patriots, HIMARS. The full catalogue, ordered with the desperate enthusiasm of a country that shares a border with Belarus.
Last week the Pentagon scrapped plans to deploy 4,200 troops to Poland. The brigade had already held a send-off ceremony, shipped its tanks, and sent advance personnel into Europe. Then came the call. Don’t bother.
Poland was blindsided. Their officials found out by ringing American congressmen. JD Vance turned up at the White House briefing today and told a Polish reporter he was overreacting. It was just a delay, he said. Europe needs to stand on its own two feet.
Poland spends nearly four percent of GDP on defence. It hosted American troops and paid fifteen thousand dollars per soldier per year for the privilege. It sent men to Iraq when Washington asked, even when France and Germany quietly suggested that everyone involved might regret it.
Rumsfeld once called Poland the most pro-American country on earth, including America itself. 
The reward for twenty years of that devotion is being told, by a man who has never heard a gunshot in anger, to look in the mirror.

Trump is the worst-case accident for the democratic world. First, he wanted to sacrifice Ukraine for a deal with Putin; now he is ready to abandon Taiwan for a deal with China. The pattern is the same: imperialist great-power thinking and contempt for the struggle for self-determination.
The consequence is that no country can rely on U.S. support anymore. America is losing its allies and abandoning the West as an alliance of democracies.
American democracy will survive Trump, but the damage he is causing internationally will have long-lasting effects.
For Taiwan, the threat of Chinese aggression is dramatically increasing. The political and economic consequences would be devastating—for the United States as well.

To judge from public reports, Trump achieved nothing during his trip to China.
It is reminiscent of Kennedy's disastrous meeting with Khrushchev in Vienna in 1961, which convinced Khrushchev he could get away with putting nukes on Cuba.
Now the issue is Taiwan.

Trump got the U.S. nothing from his visit to China, other than China promising to buy some Boeing planes, fewer than expected. Trump FAILED to convince China to pressure Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Xi and China were showered with endless praise and groveling from the president of the United States for the whole world to watch. China keeps getting stronger, more emboldened when it comes to Taiwan, and more powerful globally while Trump picks fights with longtime U.S. allies. Back at the White House, Trump had nothing concrete to point to as a success: “All I can say is that was a great success… A lot of things have happened and you’ll be hearing about them, but that was a tremendous success. I think it really was a historic moment.” An absolute embarrassment for the United States.
