It’s a bit easier once they are big enough for forward facing isofix seats and then finally a booster. The Y is much better in that respect but I like the 3 more and the only car available in early ‘21 was the 3. I am 1.86 ish. We used iPads for entertainment mounted with strong magnets put into the top of the seats (kit) and the usb’s for power together with wired kids headphones. Ahh. Those were the days (b4 Bluetooth rear screen etc). We had a Discovery 5 TD6 before the 3 so it required a bit of a rethink for space 😂

It is a relative tight fit on Tesla Model 3 with two kids 🫣 Had to switch our oldest behind me. There was no way I could drive with the opposite-turned carseat behind me and I am only 1.80 cm in height. Having a short wife has many benefits.

@john999s @DucatiMotor I was invited to the prerelease under NDA. It’s absolutely nuts. I haven’t seen the released MSRP but I didn’t click the order button, this one is gonna be unobtainable.

That's why I would not buy a @Tesla again. Tesla Model Y "Long Range AWD" Started with 100% Preconditioned 30min at 100% (battery heated) Reached the Supercharger with 15% SoC Charging power is a joke @elonmusk kekW @teslaeurope

Unobtanium brakes and other special parts 😂 We should celebrate that you can actually buy (if you have the 💵 💰) such an extreme machine and drive it to the pub. I wonder how long that’s going to be allowed? I must say that if I pin the throttle on my MR it’s a mind alteringly fast feeling so I struggle to imagine how that’s going to be. Not for mere mortals.

We’ve had Powerwall 2 x2 for the last 4 years. No issues at all and ‘charge from Solar’ for the cars works great. The only issue (and this is probably more a German/EU issue is that they do not support 3 phase power and therefore if there’s an outage (rare) only one phase is powered. The new version is apparently 3 phase and it’s unclear if it’s a retrofit. Definitely worthwhile especially as they are now LFP. The installation and your installer is key though if you are to be happy. Which we are. The ability to monitor consumption to and from roof, batteries and grid is super and you can calculate exactly what you have saved over all periods. We only have 10kW from the roof due to the original legislation here (we will add more when we get to it) but we halved our annual energy bills even with 2 EV’s, a heatpump, climate system and no fossil. I would buy Tesla again even when it’s not the cheapest. BTW We don’t have solar panels from Tesla as you can’t buy them here.

From what I hear and can tell, I suppose a majority would prefer a negotiated settlement with them and some nervousness about overspill dragging Europe into it. I’m not sure most are very surprised. I think most are already feeling the costs; you can see it on the autobahn when most of the fast guys are electric 😂. Makes a change. But obvious that costs of everything going up again. And if inflation goes up there are fears about interest rates. We never really had decent growth after Covid so everyone feels worse off already. And then there’s Ukraine …. My personal interest is whether it will accelerate the shift to sustainability here in Germany as the fuel prices bite.

@john999s @MattWallaceTech Different economics the us has always artificially kept fuel prices low, but they are very high right now and moving higher. What are people in Europe saying about the war and how it’s impacting costs?

Fair enough. The only time I use them is on a long journey for a bottle or 2 of water (not everything fits snugly) and they are rather precarious and untidy but better than nothing (no room in the centre consoles or doors). I quite liked the 997 generation and not the 992. The cars have become less daily oriented over the years in my view and deleting the umbrella holder was another sign alongside false exhaust trims of marketing trumping engineering. Thinking about it the carbon trims around the cup holders look better than the aluminum (real or fake) because you don’t see the lines so much. Anyway the fit was/is so much better than my MS (or 3) it’s basically laughable… 😂

@john999s the problem with the cup holders is that already the design is wrong. Why would you unevenly cut the metal trim for that. This is always the first thing I notice and it immidiately ruins the whole look for me.

Unpopular opinion: Interior quality was never top notch for Porsche. Ever. It was never fitting for the price. My favorite example is the armada of blind buttons and the always consistently horrid integration of cupholers and glove boxes. They always cut the beautiful metal trim, every slit was uneven and don't dare to touch it, because it was loose and rattly as well. Great drivers cars, but the interiors were always subpar for the price.

Germany today, 08:00 today: On my local autobahn Super Plus petrol is currently $13.05 per US gallon. Diesel is $12.04 per gallon. Normal E5 super at the local station is $9.29 per gallon. So not a lot to complain about in the US?. Local supercharger is €0.46 /kWh /$0.53. To fill up my Sunday car (16.9 US gallons) from empty to full is about $220 on the autobahn. It’s still $176 at the local Shell station which gets your attention. It’s about €25 to fill up the Plaid at home. Or nothing from the roof. People are upset here about the war. EV owners still upset but not suffering so much.

@MattWallaceTech It gets worse from here. Oil prices are rising again the futures market, while physical barrels of oil continue to trade at 20-30% premium over the paper market price.

The Tesla service experience is genuinely unmatched. Dropping off your car and instantly hopping into a loaner with your cloud profile already synced (seat position, saved locations, music) is something no other automaker is doing today. Plus, from the parking spot in the back of the lot, I literally pressed a button and the car drove me home. I try not to be a total Tesla fanboy, but days like this make you appreciate how good the ownership experience actually is.

@Arpe_DK I have had various 3's which drove quite well but weren't really ultimate. My F10M Comp. though which I liked was c. 1870kg... a 5er. So that perhaps puts it in perspective.

Both would be nice of course but actually some more density in the cells for autobahn would be nice. As it stands on a family trip the cars are pretty good as they are - at least the S and US 3 we ha e in Europe. The LG’s lag so some more charging performance and apparently durability would be nice. More range gives you options but not at the expense of more weight please.

@Arpe_DK @OlaMarvin Model 3 for me is still the best affordable car in the world. Even if we don't get the Panasonic pack here, anymore. Y is more family friendly but I never liked the look of it. Although I might end up with one....
