This is one of those real 'what should Stoner do' changes to the AR15.
By making the gas key integral to the bolt carrier, gas key failure (coming loose, leaking, or shearing off) is completely eliminated. Should be standard on all advanced carriers.
Also allows for a 'Long Stroke' system like the Surefire OBC to reduce FA ROF, although to my knowledge only one person has tried this.
