Hearing #ksleg express concern for getting folks back to work. About 7% of KS households reported not working due to lack of child care. That’s 80,000🏠s. Where is the urgency to address this crisis for parents, especially women who often leave workforce to care for children?

I’m not a purist as to when Christmas decorations come out. But I’ll say this: once that cork has been pulled the bottle is open. We decorated today and by golly it’s Christmas from now until Dec 25th. There’s no going back.

Ending the state sales tax on food is a great idea we can finally afford. It wouldn't be possible w/o Democrats & Republicans working together in 2017 to put KS on the road to financial recovery. Let's bring back that bipartisanship to pass this tax cut for all Kansans. #ksleg

@KansasAction Some groups are calling for an end to federal unemployment benefits as a way to encourage Kansans to work. This would do 0️⃣ to remove the biggest barriers faced by workers, such as the lack of affordable child care and a minimum wage that doesn’t meet the basic cost of living.

Factors that determine at-risk are often beyond the control of the school. Poverty, trauma, poor health, & racism are among the risk factors kids face as they learn. HB2119 does 0⃣ to address these. Sadly the #ksleg is ignoring the bills that would actually improve the situation.
