I was there during the first intern-led strike about delayed pay and delayed posting. The two hijacked the movement and called off the strike after 3 days. Interns declined to report back until money was deposited into their accounts. The resultant pay came with a mandatory deduction from every intern for KMPDU membership.

And I had The Miskellah on the podcast when he still had some flesh on him. And he explained what happened with the internship situation... and he likes to remind me that he did. Today, l met Joyce Onyango, the lady who had been allegedly accused of poisoning a 4-year-old child in Ruai. I intervened in this matter after the child’s mother reached out to me seeking help and requesting that I give her a platform to share her concerns and help trace Joyce, whom she claimed had left her place of work following the payment disagreement. In good faith, I offered the online platform to ensure the matter was brought to public attention. Following this, Joyce voluntarily surrendered herself to Umoja Two Police Station to allow investigations to proceed. A postmortem examination was later conducted, and the results confirmed that the child’s death was caused by pneumonia and other underlying infections, not poisoning as earlier alleged. Today, I gave Joyce a platform to clear her name and restore her dignity after the unfortunate accusations by the late child's mother. I am also pleased to share that I have helped her secure a casual job at a private institution (New branch for Rapid Rehabilitation Centre for Addiction. ), where she will now earn Kshs 17,000 per month. Previously, she earned Kshs 6,000, with Kshs 1,000 deducted, leaving her with a take-home salary of only Kshs 5,000. I wish Joyce all the best as she begins this new chapter in her life.
