#WATCH | Delhi: On the meeting of VCK and left parties, CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby says, "All these parties would take necessary steps to ensure that Vijay is invited to form the government."
"AIADMK is not going to get the required support because there is a specific number of MLAs elected by people. MLAs cannot be imported from anywhere else. According to our assessment, only TVK has the possibility of forming a government with a majority when the assembly meets."

#WATCH | Delhi | CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby says, "We CPI(M) in consultation with other friendly parties, CPI and VCK, we have decided that within a hours' time, we will consult and take a view as a result of which this manufactured stalemate can be avoided and the overall verdict given by the people of Tamil Nadu can be respected. The single largest party should be able to form a government. What is required for that, these three parties are consulting and we will take a decision within few hours" He further says, "The Tamil Nadu election results could not produce a party having majority. But Mr. Vijay's TVK turned out to be the single largest party short of majority for few seats. Going by the practice, the largest party should have been invited to form the government and a specific time period should have been given to prove his majority on the floor of the house. Why the Honorable Governor of Tamil Nadu did not do this is highly intriguing and it is disturbing. In this particular situation, to avoid any other problem in the democratic process. We CPI(M) in consultation with other friendly parties, CPI and VCK, we have decided that within a hours' time, we will consult and take a view as a result of which this manufactured stalemate can be avoided and the overall verdict given by the people of Tamil Nadu can be respected. கடந்த ஐந்தாண்டு காலத்தில் ஏராளமான திட்டங்களை உருவாக்கி, தமிழ்நாட்டு மக்களுக்கு நல்லாட்சியை வழங்கினோம். தமிழ்நாட்டை அனைத்து வகையிலும் உயர்த்தினோம். தேர்தல் களத்தில் எங்களது சாதனைகளைச் சொல்லியே வாக்குகளைக் கேட்டோம்.
மக்களுக்குச் செய்து கொடுத்த நலத்திட்டங்கள் தொடருவதற்கு வாக்கு கேட்டு நாங்கள் பரப்புரை செய்தோம்.
திராவிட முன்னேற்றக் கழகத்தின் தலைமையிலான மதச்சார்பற்ற முற்போக்குக் கூட்டணியை ஆதரித்து வாக்களித்த தமிழ்நாட்டு மக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் நான் எனது மனமார்ந்த நன்றியைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.
வாக்களித்தவர்களுக்கு மட்டுமல்ல, வாக்களிக்க மறந்தவர்களுக்கும் சேர்த்தே ஆட்சி நடத்தினேன்.
அனைத்து மக்களுக்கும் உண்மையாக இருந்தேன். நான் எனது மனச்சாட்சிப்படியே செயல்பட்டேன்.
நான் எனது சக்தியை மீறி உழைத்தேன். என்னைப் போன்றே களத்தில் உழைத்த என் உயிரோடு கலந்திருக்கும் தலைவர் கலைஞரின் அன்பு உடன்பிறப்புகள் அனைவருக்கும் எனது நெஞ்சார்ந்த நன்றி!
எங்களோடு தோளோடு தோள் நின்ற தோழமை இயக்கத் தலைவர்கள், நிர்வாகிகள், தொண்டர்கள்
அனைவருக்கும் நன்றி !
எனது அரசியல் பொதுவாழ்வில் அதிகப்படியான வெற்றியையும் பார்த்துள்ளேன்; தோல்விகளையும் சந்தித்துள்ளேன்.
எனவே இலட்சியமும் கொள்கையும்தான் முக்கியமே தவிர, வெற்றி தோல்விகள் மட்டுமல்ல என்று செயல்படக் கூடியவன் நான்.
அதனால் திராவிட முன்னேற்றக் கழகத்தின் அரசியல் பயணம் தொய்வில்லாமல் தொடரும்.
இதுவரை மக்களுக்காகச் சிறப்பான ஆளும்கட்சியாகச் செயல்பட்ட தி.மு.க. - இனி சிறப்பான எதிர்க்கட்சியாகச் செயல்படும்.

தமிழ்நாடு அரசின் தலைமைச் செயலாளர் திரு முருகானந்தம் அவர்களைத் தேர்தல் ஆணையம் பணிமாற்றம் செய்திருப்பது அதிகார வரம்பை மீறிய செயல். தேர்தல் ஆணையத்தின் செயல் கடும் கண்டனத்திற்குரிய செயல்
தேர்தல் ஆணையத்தின் அதிகாரத்திற்கு வரம்பிருக்கிறது. தன்னிச்சையான (arbitrary) நியாயமற்ற (unfair) செயல் அதிகார வரம்பை மீறிய செயல்

The bombing of Venezuela is an act of international terrorism by US-led imperialism. Trump's claim of kidnapping President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, if true, is another blatant violation of international law. This exposes the fallacy of US claims of Trump being a ‘President of Peace’ and lays bare the ugly face of US' militaristic aggressiveness to the entire world.
We stand in solidarity with Venezuela. CPI(M) calls upon its members to organise protests wherever possible. The international community should mount pressure on the US to stop their blatant aggression on Venezuela and the UN Security Council should condemn this aggression.

The Supreme Court's answer in response to the Presidential Reference is deplorable and shocking. Courts shouldn't hesitate to play a meaningful role in ensuring proper checks and balances between the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary.
On the one hand, the SC says that a timeline cannot be set for granting assent to bills; and on the other, they say that "the Court can exercise a limited power of judicial review to direct the Governor to decide in a time-bound manner."
Now who will decide what is a time bound manner?!! Judiciary should not absolve itself of its constitutional responsibility.
