I am biased as I dropped out as a Math major with a 3.8 GPA due to $35k in debt after 2 years.

Colleges should invest in their top performing students. Something like $500 for every A+ at the end of the semester or 1 free course for every A in major-related courses.

Help students identify what they are good at by allowing them to dig deeper into subjects that they succeed in. Motivate students to work harder and find their niche.

The overall university GPA will increase. Students who achieve a high grade in one class are more likely to achieve a high grade another related class. Giving these students a free class would almost certainly retain the student and keep them at the university.

Most students who would benefit from this have high potential to be successful alumni and therefore high potential investors.
