I’m not anti-AI. I like MRI machines. I like collision avoidance systems in airplanes. I like software that can detect cancer before a doctor can. I like machine vision systems that stop factory workers from getting their hands crushed in hydraulic presses. That’s what computers are supposed to do. Cold. Precise. Mechanical. I don’t need a technology to “express itself.” The problem started when Silicon Valley decided the machine should paint. The machine should write poetry. The machine should compose symphonies and generate films and imitate the human soul like a skinwalker wearing a beret. Now every ad, every song, every image online has this faint chemical aftertaste to it. Like the entire culture is being slowly replaced with synthetic substitutes because executives realized audiences consume slop at the same rate they consume art. And the worst part is they call this “democratizing creativity.” No. Creativity was already democratized. A guy with a guitar and 3 friends in a garage could make something beautiful. A college kid with a cracked copy of Photoshop could make an album cover that changed someone’s life. What they actually democratized was content production. Factories. Throughput. Infinite generation. A machine can diagnose my low testosterone. Fine. I just don’t want it writing the eulogy.

@Jim_Boyo I use s2fm inside Half life alyx. I motion capture with an xsens suit, export the data as bvh, use a blender add on called auto rig pro to retarget the data to source skeletons, then use blender source tools to export the animation as dmx for use in s1 or s2.

Ayo @DARUSSIANBADGER, when you animated (or if you still animate) in SFM, how did you implement mocap data to SFM? Countless Google searches and videos will not give me a straight or cohesive answer.

The Amazing Digital Circus fandom is one of the most well served fandoms that I have ever seen. Free global youtube releases for every episode is something most fandoms could only ever dream of. I really hope you start to show some more appreciation for the creatives who put their blood, sweat, and tears into making your show. Frankly, I'm embarrassed at the entitlement I've witnessed. I understand it is likely that many of you are young and have never had to experience the inconvenience of partial releases. I once had to wait a full year to watch a movie for my favourite franchise and had to dodge spoilers the entire time. Could the animation studio have just released it on YouTube for free? Yes. But that would have led to an intense loss in revenue. The fact that indie animation studios like Glitch have been able to make that happen for you is a miracle. It's something you should celebrate. Not use against them the second they want to, just once for the finale of their show, do an early release in theaters, which is a historic achievement for indie studios, by the way. They had every right to want to monetize and reward themselves. And yet, they STILL pushed and pushed to get you the free release as early as possible, in spite of the protestations of the cinema corporations that have every right to want it to be exclusive for longer. That is a studio that truly loves its global fandom. I wish more of you realized that.
