A great lesson for all authors 👇 Every major publisher passed on @trishaposner’s book. She had no agent. She landed a tiny UK publisher and it was released to no fanfare, no big reviews. Word of mouth put it on the WSJ bestseller list a year later and it is now translated into 16 languages. No better proof that people buy books when other readers recommend them. My personal favorite part of this little known story from the Holocaust is how a single camp survivor and Germany’s first postwar Jewish judge worked to bring Capesius to some semblance of justice 20 years after the war ended. Where was he before that? He had returned to a normal life in Germany, even opening up his own pharmacy and beauty clinic in his own name. Truth sometimes stranger than fiction.

Victor Capesius—the Nazi war criminal at the center of my book The Pharmacist of Auschwitz—died on this day in 1985. An ordinary man who descended into evil, he remained in denial to the end, unburdened by conscience. A reminder that history’s worst crimes are often carried out by those who appear entirely unremarkable. #BookHistory amazon.com/Pharmacist-Aus…

If you're outraged that the Old Dominion terror suspect was released early after a conviction for providing material support to a terrorist network, wait until you read this. The first person ever convicted in the U.S. for financing Hezbollah was sentenced to 155 years. He walked free after 23. Now he has disappeared. It was with real sadness that I learned that the monks of the Abbey of La Trappe in Normandy are considering closing down their operation. As the name suggests, this monastery is the mother house of the Trappist Order, a reform of the Cistercian movement and a particularly intense form of Benedictine life, famous for its austerity and silence. I came to know of La Trappe through Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk of the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky, whom I read with great passion when I was a young man. La Trappe shaped Merton, who in turn opened so much of the spiritual life to me. Founded over nine hundred years ago, La Trappe has survived the Black Death, the Hundred Years' War, the Protestant Reformation, the French Revolution, and the world wars of the twentieth century. That this venerable monastery cannot find enough vocations to keep it alive is, in my judgment, a sign of the spiritual disaster that has befallen Europe in the last hundred years: an ideological secularism that is rotting the soul of the West. Let's redouble our prayers that the monks of La Trappe might find a way to preserve their great Abbey. It is needed especially now.

Let me tell you about the man who broke the American diet. Ancel Keys had data from 22 countries. He published 7. The ones that showed fat WASN'T the problem? He threw them out. That's not science, folks. That's a guy who decided he was right and then went looking for proof. And here we are, 60 years later. Low-fat everything. Fat-free yogurt loaded with sugar. Skim milk in schools. Margarine instead of butter. And more heart disease, more obesity, and more diabetes than ever. The experiment failed. You're living in the results. No sugar. No grains. Eat real food. Stay motivated. 🥩🍳 #NSNG #NoSugarNoGrains #VinnieTortorich #AncelKeys #BigFood #EatRealFood

Princeton researchers discovered that the human brain emits ultra-low-frequency electromagnetic waves that appear to form part of a global neural network. These signals can subtly influence other people’s brains from as far as 10,000KM away, raising the possibility that human consciousness is interconnected across the planet. This work adds to a growing body of research suggesting that our brains communicate not only through neurons but also through delicate electromagnetic fields. Some studies indicate that these fields may help shape empathy, intuition, and even the way groups synchronize their behavior. Experiments have also hinted that when one person meditates or focuses deeply, nearby or even distant individuals can show slight shifts in their brainwave patterns. The Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) Laboratory has conducted several experiments that show the mind has a subtle capacity to influence the output of devices known as Random Event Generators (REGs). A project that initially started when a student was curious to study the effects of the human mind and intention on the surrounding environment, turned into a rigorous testing lab where Dr. Robert Jahn and his lab assistant spent many hours experimenting to determine whether or not the mind has an effect on our physical world. Jahn and his assistant were able to determine that the human minds interactions with the machines demonstrated a relationship that was not physical in nature. The mind was able to affect and change outcomes of the machine in ways that were beyond standard deviations. In essence, consciousness was having an effect over the physical world. To determine the effects of the mind’s intention on the physical world, they built several machines called a random number generator. The machine would essentially mimic a coin flip and record the results over time. The machine performed 200 flips per second and produced an average mean of 100 as one would expect. Left unattended, the machine would continue to produce results that suggested a 50/50 chance of producing either heads or tails. The interesting results came when human intention started to interact with the machine. What was once a random 50/50 chance of producing heads or tails began to deviate from expectation as the observer began to intend for the numbers to be higher or lower. While the effects of the mind over the machines was not large, it was enough that contemporary physics is unable to explain what exactly is happening. Perhaps this is where the quantum world can shed light? The implications of this research on humanity are fascinating given it could reach into the realms of creating a world of peace, a thriving world and abundance. If intentions and thoughts can impact something the way it has been demonstrated above, why not explore the boundaries of how far this can go?

Secretary Kennedy
Secretary Kennedy@SecKennedy·
I will always tell the American people the truth. Pesticides and herbicides are toxic by design, engineered to kill living organisms. When we apply them across millions of acres and allow them into our food system, we put Americans at risk. Chemical manufacturers have paid tens of billions of dollars to settle cancer claims linked to their products, and many agricultural communities report elevated cancer rates and chronic disease. Unfortunately, our agricultural system depends heavily on these chemicals. The U.S. represents 4% of the world’s population, yet we use roughly 25% of its pesticides. If these inputs disappeared overnight, crop yields would fall, food prices would surge, and America would experience a massive loss of farms even beyond what we are witnessing today. The consequences would be disastrous. I support President Trump’s Executive Order to bring agricultural chemical production back to the United States and end our near-total reliance on adversarial nations. His EO protects two pillars of national strength: our defense readiness and our food supply. When hostile actors control critical inputs, they directly threaten the security of the American people. The Trump administration will secure these supply chains to eliminate that vulnerability. President Trump did not build our current system — he inherited it. For decades, Washington designed modern agriculture. Policymakers wrote farm policy, directed research dollars, structured subsidies and crop insurance, and shaped commodity markets to reward monocultures and maximum yield. Those deliberate choices locked farmers into chemical dependence and prioritized short-term output over long-term soil vitality and human health. We are now changing course — without destabilizing the food supply. Alongside @USDA @SecRollins, we are accelerating the transition to regenerative agriculture by expanding farming systems that rebuild soil, increase biodiversity, improve water retention, and reduce reliance on synthetic chemicals, including pre-harvest desiccation. We are also driving the rapid adoption of next-generation technologies, including laser-guided weed control, electrothermal and electrical systems, robotics, precision mechanical cultivation, and biological controls that replace blanket spraying with precision intervention. These solutions are not theoretical. Farmers are already putting them to work. Markets are scaling them. Now the federal government will act with urgency to expand their reach and accelerate adoption nationwide. I have met with hundreds of farmers and agricultural leaders across the country. They understand the pressures firsthand. Chemical inputs cut into margins. Chemical-resistant pests are spreading. Soil health is declining. Foreign markets are shutting out American produce. Farmers want workable alternatives, and they want policies that support transition without threatening their livelihoods. At HHS, I am leading a coordinated effort grounded in gold standard science. I am working with Secretary Rollins and @EPALeeZeldin to expedite a better future where a thriving agricultural system is less dependent on harmful chemicals. We are sharing data, coordinating strategy, and supporting farmers through a practical transition. The Make America Healthy Again agenda forces us to challenge long-standing assumptions about how we grow food, structure markets, and measure success in this country. Reform at this scale will test entrenched interests, and it will not move in a straight line. President Trump has opened the door to this debate and backed meaningful change — not only in policy, but in the national conversation about health and agriculture. American farmers stand at the center of this movement. They deserve policies rooted in rigorous science and economic reality. Our children deserve a food system that protects and strengthens their health. With President Trump’s leadership, we are securing critical supply chains, confronting the health risks embedded in our current system, and deploying every available tool to build a stronger, safer, more resilient American food supply.
