I like to live here and now. I never miss out and have never met a stranger. Father, husband, guitarist, tech head, gamer, foodie and avid reader.

At first I’d say no. But now that it’s 10’ it’s a “maybe”. If no wind you can do that with collective and go slowly up and then slow back down. Just a little up and then little down… probably bump at bottom but not slam. Granted if you get a gust and tilt and can’t stick adjust to level you’re in trouble and then 3 would disqualify you :-). It would be ULTRA dangerous but not impossible.

"100% it was a ball." The spectacular USA-Dominican Republic WBC semifinal game was marred by blown calls -- including one that ended the game. I spoke with Geraldo Perdomo, Juan Soto and DR GM Nelson Cruz about it. Here's what they said, free at ESPN: espn.com/mlb/story/_/id…

1) Make them responsible for more and more things gradually. Montessori schools/methods show tha you can increase self-direction and task completion at very young ages. Have them work for money and things at a young age. Slowly make it more and more. My kids live a charmed life and all are single digit ages. They all also know how to work to earn things (even if it’s easy, they have to do *something* to earn most of that thy desire). They’ll understand the exchange for goods and respect it more. 2) Cultivate a habit of gratitude. It’s too easy to provide everything and train your kids to look for what’s next or what else can be added… until that system breaks and they’re instantly unhappy and in a hole of despair. The problem is that they can be at Disney World, staying at the best resort, having flow first class… but then get super upset they didn’t get the stuffed animal in the gift shop. If you don’t cultivate a HABIT of thinking of what they are grateful for you can train them to be unhappy at any time too regardless of how good things are. Teach them to be happy bc there is a breeze and the grass is green… and they’ll be happy more than not. 3) Teach manners. It improves every single interpersonal relationship they’ll have for the rest of their lives. And once a habit it costs the nothing. Really think about this… ALL RELATIONSHIPS… meaning spouses, friends, customers, managers, judges, police, teachers, strangers, others’ kids, grandparents, etc. What a gift! All of these are armor against entitlement and a poor disposition (which I feel can be closely tied).

Question: What are YOU doing to keep your kids from being entitled? We live in an age of such abundance, entertainment, and greed. I want to hear what ya’ll do to raise ‘em good. I’ll have Grok compile the answers and summarize trends!

My dad got emotional listening to the Italian national anthem and made espresso for Italy vs. Venezuela. This is not a man who watches sports at all, and I didn't even bring this up to him. The World Baseball Classic is one of the best things a league has done in years, and it's a shame this sport will be shut down next year. MLB has some real juice right now and they need to figure out how to keep the momentum going.

Hard to beat the crack of that bat man. Nimmo with a 410 ft no-doubter to make it 5-0 Rangers. 105.3 EV. Just beautiful.

@RightOnRangers I guess that’s the way to go, especially if you can watch outside of the actual game time. And since I’m in the blackout I guess I’ll just watch away games. Hopefully I can get a refund from the trash Victory+ app.

Wow. Nimmo deposits another baseball over the wall just for good measure. It’s 19-2 Rangers over the Padres. It’s the 5th inning. Can we save some runs for the regular season boys?? 😅

Comparison is the thief of joy. I see this when my children are joyous and then see someone doing or playing with something else and get surly, even not fully realizing why. I then realize the mini-miseries I put myself through comparing things that don’t matter… especially during times when I can and should be enjoying a simple, happy moment with my family (for which I am unbelievably blessed). I’m going to try and stop for a “does it really matter” check next time and see if I can stop it and get back faster. I want this “thief” out of my house!

Start with tilling in some sandy loam or sand and fresh top soil. It looks like compacted clay and that’s hard to get anything to root in. Next use a shade specific turf like fescue (needs lots of water) or zoysia (grows VERY slow and uses little water). Water daily. Once you have grass growing, keep watering daily for a month. Just keep it wet, not swampy. Then start spreading out watering to every two days for a month, then three days. Follow guidelines for type of grass.

How can I get grass to grow under here? Any grass experts out there? Send help 😂 I’ve tried sod for shade. We trimmed the tree several times to let sun in. Sunday the DIY spray deal and nada.

Arboretum, Discovery Gardens (take a child to the indoor butterlfies), fish in any pond/creek, bike/one-wheel/walk a trail, see a show at the Wiley, Myerson, Undermain, Kitchen Dog… or any of the amazing theaters around town. Bike through Fair Park at night. Roof deck restaurants. Pro sports. Minor league sports. Go to a race at TMS… and go to a race at Devils Bowl. Ride go-karts at Dallas Karting (crazy fast!). The list is long dude.

Genuine question on a restaurant situation: You walk up to a counter to order. You find your own table and seat yourself. If you order coffee, they hand you a cup and you go fill it up yourself. If you order food, they hand you a buzzer and when it goes off, you go pick it up yourself. The iPad has a “20%, 25%, 30%, Other” tip option, with 20% already preselected. What’s your move?
