95 years ago today (10th Nov 1929) Longford became the inaugural Leinster Minor Football champions with victory over Dublin by 3-4 to 1-4 at the Navan Showgrounds. Dublin objected and delay meant the inaugural All-Ireland MFC final (no semis) didn't take place until April 1930.

@johnjgreene Could it be to do with the competition level - Tier 1 vs Tier 2? I don’t know either, but that’s the only obvious thing that springs to mind. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Genuine question (as in, I don’t know the answer, I’m not being a smart arse): Why is Hawkfield ok for a championship game (1200 people) but Ardee isn’t (circa 2500 people)?

@johnjgreene Lots of factors agreed… but to listen to come commentators on the GAA you’d think pushing throngs back 3 weeks would be the panacea for all ills such as poor attendance and poor matches 🤔🙈

I don’t recall such a small crowd at a championship match in Longford for many years. People voting with their feet …

@moylesiea We’ll have no way of knowing Anthony !! And it’s not just the time of year … it’s the form of both teams, low expectations and other factors

@johnjgreene I’d put a friendly fiver on with you that if the same clash was on in 3/4 weeks time their would be a very similar attendance??
