I say again: If you think Poilievre is the solution to Carney, you don't even know what the problem is.

@JeffreyLuscombe Horseshit. Traffic is down what 30%. Seems to be a majority disagree and continue to go. The US is awesome (not perfect and neither is Canada) and the Us always will be a strategic trading partner. Current administration will not be there forever remember.

Bryan, I'm sure you're a nice guy. But honestly. You are very poorly informed if you think Ottawa did Alberta a favour by paying for TMX with OUR MONEY. Kinder Morgan would have built it themselves if not for endless obstruction from Trudeau and BC.
Bryan Avison@bryan_avison

@lamphieryeg Canada population denisty is 4 people per square km. However, 70%.of Canadians live below the 49th Parallel. 50% live below 45.7N latitude. This concentration of people is comparable to western Europe. Dont forget, These Canadians paid for the >$21B TMX Pipeline

Have Canadians become to complacent that we actually think the only way anything can get done in this country is if the government is involved?

I went to grab a coffee this morning. A guy in front of me orders an Americano. Cashier calls out: “12oz Canadiano ☕🇨🇦” When it was my turn, I smiled: “I’ll take a Canadiano too.” Btw, that's cool She grinned: “You know it.”

@TheChaosWeeber Colossal waste of time and money. Think bigger. Imagine a fleet of 100,000 self driving EVs at 10% of the cost but same capacity.

I despise wha Pierre has done to the high speed rail debate in Canada. This shouldn’t be a partisan issue. It’s a project that will change Canada for the better. Majority of those opposed have never even used high speed rail before. Video from Shinkansen in February

Opposing spending $90 billion is not "NIMBYism". Remember when the Liberals purchased the Trans-Mountain pipeline to expand it? $4.5 billion for the pipeline. $7 billion estimate expansion cost. Actual cost as of 2024? $34 billion. You can support the idea of high-speed rail without supporting your tax dollars going to total incompetents to handle the project.

I just came back from a trip to Japan. The Japanese could figure out how to provide their citizens high speed rail. There’s no reason why we can’t. Don’t let Pierre Poilievre deny Canadians high speed rail. If we need help and advice from the Japanese, let’s get it.

💥STOP AND THINK ABOUT *HOW BAD* THIS HIGH SPEED RAIL PROJECT IS GOING TO BE.💥 $3.6 BILLION (with a ‘B’) has already been spent and not a single shovel has gone in the ground. This has EPIC disaster and money laundering written all over it. BUT HEY, IT’S THE LIBERALS - OF COURSE THIS MAKES SENSE!!
Ryan Gerritsen🇨🇦🇳🇱@ryangerritsen

The Government started talking about the high speed rail in 1984. From 84 to 2010 almost $600,000,000 was spent on studies. Since 2020 over $4 billion has been spent on planning. Nothing is built. Not a single line of track. This is an epic boondoggle

You absolutely do need to show an economic gain for a $100B project. I think the biggest part of the problem is that Canadians do not understand money at all. They have no idea what that amount is to us, how much opportunity cost there is here.
Ryder Côté@wreck_it_ryder

@Smileyyeg Not every investment by the government needs to be for economic benefit… it’s a quality of life investment that will affect millions and have environmental benefits too. The 401 is the busiest highway in North America, a lot of our good travel that corridor. It lightens traffic!

For the Bloc to oppose a rail project, a good portion of which is set to be in Quebec (for purely political reasons), it must be a pretty bad project. The $90B Alto is a disaster in the making. Plans should be scrapped, and redrawn as a simple Toronto to Montreal line.
The Real Mr Bench@therealmrbench

Blanchet won’t support the Liberal high-speed rail plan as it stands in Quebec. Citing property seizures and government overreach. Poilievre says no → media outrage. Blanchet says no → little mention. Same project. Different rules.
