@axios Good piece “we’ve been warned” but wondering why use as the core imagery a PC from 35 years ago?? It is either silly or I am missing some subliminal point you are making….

@MorningBriefing I joined Blue Sky...but at least you always bring goodness here, Tim. And yes...spring came...winter came back....and spring is coming again. That time of year! I better get the boats ready!

@paulg Does it need branding? I’m happy to give examples of “EA” never branded as such. I expect the future will continue to have more unbranded altruism. Sure branding can awaken some. Perhaps some small value there.

It's too bad "effective altruism" has been destroyed as a brand by SBF, because altruism is important and "effective" is probably the most important adjective you could qualify "altruism" with.

I'm guessing this airport bar sells a lot of Bloody Marys.

@PuckNews @tarapalmeri @brianstelter Enjoyed the back and forth between you two. Nice podcast; first time listener. Puck subscriber. Will go on record hoping your forecast for November is incorrect, Tara. Hope you both keep working hard and thanks.

@randallb I am very familiar with both places; live part of the year in one of them. Love them both. Both places are fine to live in. You just need to understand both places.

That means, SF is career advantageous more than ny, but ny is overall better for life generally. OpenAI as a company never could start in New York, because there’s too much going on outside tech. But I think I’ll be net/net happier and still able to execute big things in ny.

I was talking to someone about New York and sf tech differences… and I think the big difference is solely: people who live in sf are around a high concentration of builders, in a city that barely functions. That has a lot of benefits for building companies.

@paulg @ido_vadavker We had one child. I would do a LOT of the driving. It was one thing when you stop the driving. It is another when you empty nest as they go to college. That was years ago and only in the past few years did I realize how hard it was for me. Now she is back with grandchildren. :)

Just realized I've been doing school dropoff and pickup for almost 13 years. It's going to be weird when that stops.

@BubblesVampire Every now and then something happens to redeem twitter if only momentarily. I know you are an expert in this area and it is impressive and appreciated you can whip this up for us here. And so now let us assess the allegorical dimension for 2024 and beyond.

It's an interesting data point that companies planning to compete with Google all trust them enough to talk about their plans via GMail without a second thought. It's a good thing to have that level of trust.

I am currently in east Tennessee. I don't want to hear anyone ever again talk about southern toughness. In the far north Chicago burbs we had 8 inches of snow last Friday. We had our choice of places for carryout and not a single place closed early. Here just west of Knoxville

@BardiesWorld @juliemason @wardcarroll I know it’s after the fact here but when I first heard he was quietly in hospital I thought prostate and was thinking same words as Bardie. The hangups men have. A bummer. Maybe someday we’ll get better in dealing with it.

@DougHeye Enjoy all your stuff, Doug. But I’d love to see you alongside Barb McQuade who might agree with you about contempt but also just said highly unlikely prosecutor would take this case. Oh maybe if they got D John Sauer? But in life you take risks and Hunter’s team was wise. IMHO

Political/PR stunts aside (and who doesn't love a good stunt), no potential witness dictates to Congress the forum in which they testify. A subpeona is not an invitation or means of negotiation. Not following it, regardless of who controls Congress, defines contempt.
