For context in NI, our Emergency Care data showed in September 2024 median length of stay in ED for admitted patients waiting a bed was 16hours 7mins. Have a think where 16hours might sit on that graph. That’s where we are in Northern Ireland. @RCollEM

I'm often asked about how stressful it is to work in the emergency dept. I answer yes, but not for the reason ppl think Patients near death when minutes matter...that's not stressful...it's what we do A system that inadvertently makes work more difficult is why it's stressful

@LawrenceDunhill 1. It's really depressing that the focus is on 76%. This will inevitably focus effort on the 'quick wins' and discharged patients. Meanwhile there is deafening silence about the utterly miserable 12 hour (from time of arrival) stays.
