i’m just over here hunched over reading between the lines of a four-hundred page report, while completely ignoring the writing on the wall.

i’m halfway through a bottle of wine and i just invented a new sport; hockey without sticks; soccer on ice if you will

my thought process is similar to my digestive system. i take in all these great ideas, with all their flavour profiles and aromas, then i have a long think and spin them in my brain a bit, and then i take a dump.

my conspiracy theory is that Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong created the 2008 market crash in order to enrich the plot of their sitcom.

I used to work the phone in a pizza joint. Once I took a call, launched into my opening script and the man on the other end yelled, “It’s just a recording of some little girl.” One of many occasions I’ve said, “actually, I’m a real person.”

@queasy_f_bby haha i just noticed the other comments are making snarky comments at academics who use the word “bodies” to refer to people. i have no clue what is going on in academia. but in the “real” world we use the word bodies to refer to people as well. every day language is not fussy.

@queasy_f_bby it is not inherently, no. it depends on context. otherwise “we need more hands” is even more dehumanizing. nothing dehumanizing when a foreman yells “we need more bodies here” if they need to pull something heavy for five minutes before everyone goes back to what they were doing.

is it just me that finds it inherently dehumanizing to refer to people as “bodies”?

@phillmv their point IS that they never protest; but fuck their point. because all of their empty rhetoric denouncing visible anti-gay outbursts and other forms of hate speech in their events is so hollow to the point of encouraging this shit in a world that otherwise moves away from it.

@johnnydib @PlannerSean I've mapped the laneway suite building permits using City open data. There's a few hundred of them underway or complete at this point. arcg.is/1vTDSz

Looking at the proposed draft Garden Suites permissions going to Planning and Housing Committee next week, they generally look fine to me. Some things I don’t like (of course), but on the whole they are good and will result on units being built (if council eventually approves it)

yes this IS also based largely in irrational fear based on years of watching crime dramas but my point remains, it feels way better to have very close neighbors and a couple of secure doors between me and the outside isi

NIMBYs love to fearmonger about ~crime~ with multifamily housing but as a woman who lives alone and has anxiety i can’t begin to quantify how much safer i feel in a condo than a detached house
