It’s been a tough few weeks. My 10yo daughter was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer called interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS). I’m reaching out to identify clinicians/patients who have encountered pediatric IDCS, indeterminate dendritic cell histiocytosis or other (non-LCH) histiocytic sarcomas cases. I'm trying to understand non-surgical chemo and targeted therapy options, new pathology markers to better diagnose subtypes/treatments, and any data on progression in pediatric patients. Please feel free to share – I’m trying to cast a wide net due to the rarity of this condition and how little is known. People can contact me directly at my first name (as written in my profile) at octant.bio.

Today we report Evo, a generalist foundation model for biology, on the cover of @ScienceMagazine. Trained on billions of DNA nucleotides, Evo was designed to capture two key aspects of biology: the multi-modality of the central dogma and the multi-scale nature of evolution.

A new Science study presents “Evo”—a machine learning model capable of decoding and designing DNA, RNA, and protein sequences, from molecular to genome scale, with unparalleled accuracy. Evo’s ability to predict, generate, and engineer entire genomic sequences could change the way synthetic biology is done. Learn more in this week's issue: bit.ly/3OsmUPr

Excited to join @Ginkgo's Board of Directors. I've watched Ginkgo start out of MIT in 2008 and followed their journey closely over the years. I'm excited to work with @jrkelly @reshmapshetty and the rest of the team to make biology easier to engineer in the coming years.

We've started IND-enabling studies on a small molecule corrector for Rho-associated autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa (Rho-adRP). I thought it would be fun to spend some time walking through our approach and why we are excited. Long 🧵1/

Fantastic to be back @OctantBio. I’ve learned so much from this team since college, and I’m excited to be working on the clinical development of our corrector therapies. Check out what the Octonauts have been up to at octant.bio/pipeline

So cool to see @OctantBio Apprentices boomerang after school; Johnny helped on everything, from a cloning machine to assembling furniture. He went to med school after, graduated and is now back working on biomarker/translational aspects of our lead programs! Time flies…
