@TheBrothersWISP Customer had a single PVC, provider had one per customer. Today -- you would do it with VLANs just as easily

@TheBrothersWISP A lot of the original DSL providers were Open Access. You bought and aggregation port from them and they directed PVCs to you over that agg circuit. Some forced the ISP to pay for the circuit. Others had customer pay, and then request a PVC.

I understand that some details may be behind an NDA. If you've worked with an open-access network, can you share the experience? Technical? Financial? Operations?

@TheBrothersWISP If you use the public ROW, you can't be an ISP. You can only sell L1/L2 connects between endpoints.

@mhammett I own one. It's IoT, so your data goes to someone else and they are kind enough to let you interact. If you can live with that, it is good way to track your electricity usage.

men mistake “interest in tech” for “staying in a tech career.” women leave tech, or decide not to work in it, all the time bc they’re treated terribly. that doesn’t mean they were never, or are not still, interested in it. they’re just choosing themselves over a nightmare
