@SaulStaniforth @ZackPolanski Trying not to be biased but surely history proves it has been sustainable …. Since 1066? It’s also not a unique British wealth structure- so it’s sustainable world wide…..
English

.@ZackPolanski: "The 50 wealthiest families in this country own more wealth than 34 million people. That's unsustainable. The govt say there is no money left. There's plenty of money. It needs to be in our communities, both for the environment & for the people we serve"
English

@worstall @SaulStaniforth @owenjonesjourno You are wrong - using CPI the decline in agenda for change has been significant between 2009 and 2024. Check the numbers - as a rough guide, a band 7 in 2924 is paid the same as a band 6 was in 2009. Real terms salary eroded by a whole pay band.
English

.@owenjonesjourno: "The vast majority of the NHS is its doctors, nurses.. their real terms pay is still significantly lower than it was back in 2008.. if we want a world class healthcare system we've got to pay for it, & we need to tax people doing very well to do that"

@johnpareeves Hi John, please can we share you video on our platforms with a credit? Thank you!
English

@johnpareeves Hi John, hope you're well - Would we be able to use your video for The Standard site with full on screen credit to you? Thanks so much.

@johnpareeves Hi John, Are we able to use this video on the London Standard website please?

@marchinhammer @fortierfinance @Jack_Frodo Air bags that deploy when 30 feet from the ground…. Still going to be fatal for some but could save some lives.
Obviously the true answer is that passengers are disposable and airliners care about profit more than saving a handful of lives.
English

@fortierfinance @Jack_Frodo I read somewhere before that something like 88% of all commercial aircraft accidents occur at landing or take off so a giant parachute would be useless anyway in that instance
English

@Keir_Starmer It wasn’t and isn’t broken. It’s underfunded but still performs a wonderful service where it can.
English

@wesstreeting It’s only relevant if you quote the net increase / growth in numbers - you are only showing half the picture if you exclude those that retired or left the profession. Usual soon and manipulation of figures by all politicians.
English

Within weeks of taking office, we said we’d employ 1,000 more GPs onto the frontline by the end of March.
Today we can report that we’ve employed 1,503 more GPs!
This doesn’t mean it’s ‘job done’. Loads to do. But the NHS is going in the right direction.

@bobstev53681908 @MichelleDewbs Grammar schools are state schools! Your argument fell at the first fence!
Notwithstanding the fact that today’s judges were at school 50 years ago and state secondary schools were completely shite in the 70s. Unfortunately I went to one.
English

@MichelleDewbs A private school gives you chance to go to Cambridge, Oxford, other very good universities. More judges are private educated or grammar school educated than come from state schools. Lawyers who have been to private school are likely to do well in exams. Prep schools.

@crazyzombienerd How stupid are the people accepting the higher prices because of so many shoplifters like her!
English

@Machiav65991401 @ramonagusta Everyone pays tax in some form eg VAT.
You mean the burden of cost falls on those who can afford it - that’s kind of how all public services work. Perhaps you’d also like a private military to protect you if you want to bypass public goods?
English

Every working person in the UK is now paying £575 per month for the NHS via taxes.
Not so "free" is it?

@credland_nicki @GregHands @bbclaurak @Conservatives @CCHQPress @SteveBarclay I think they had the audacity to include the 22/23 pay award as well as the one off payment and 5% uplift. It’s a half-truth like everything they say.
English

@GregHands @bbclaurak @Conservatives @CCHQPress @SteveBarclay Would you like to explain where you get the figure £5100 for a band 5 nurse from because you have simply made it up!!
English

“People get paid in pounds, not in percentages”
I was glad on @bbclaurak to have the opportunity to explain the Government’s “very fair and reasonable offer” to nurses & other NHS workers.
£5,100 extra pay for ward nurses (Band 5), including a cash payment of £2,000 by summer.

@Pauline05835184 @LancsHospCITeam As a patient I absolutely detest the discharge lounge concept.
English

Great presentation from Walsall Healthcare really putting the powerful message of the need for a discharge lounge into perspective. 1 patient going to the discharge lounge supports 5 patients in total #biggerpicture @LancsHospCITeam

@BBCPolitics Fabulous answers from Sharon Graham. Spoken from the heart and mind.
English

"This government are putting lives at risk"
Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham says strikes are being used to "make patients much safer than what they are"
