Reporter: Isn’t there concern that this slippery slope to socialism inevitably ends up as full-blown communism? AOC: I mean, no. I think that’s very silly. We can’t even raise the minimum wage. Do they really think communism is going to happen? No. They’re trying to scare people because they don’t want us talking about the fact that we all have a right to health care. So they want to call everything they don’t like communist because if people actually wake up to the fact that their elected officials are screwing them over when they get here, they’re going to realize they deserve better and that health care as a right isn’t crazy. They want to call this stuff communist because they don’t want us to realize that the rest of the developed world has guaranteed health care. They want to call it communist because they don’t want you to know that Germany, Italy, the UK, Canada—everybody else—has it better than us, and we spend the most money for the worst care in the developed world.

😳 a drowsy Trump mumbles his way through bonkers Oval Office event 😳 Trump just slurred his way through a back-and-forth with reporters in which he claimed he understands Venezuela because "Miss Venezuela always did very well in the Miss Universe pageant," said he trusts Putin and Xi just one week after accusing Xi of conspiring to rig the 2020 election against him, admitted he "hasn't thought about" the parasite giving Americans explosive diarrhea, suggested his Energy Secretary signed a nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia without his knowledge, and accused LeBron James of being racist because he doesn't support him. Suffice it to say that grandpa is banged up. Here's the blooper reel:

Jessica: California prosecutors working for Gavin Newsom, busted a hospice fraud wearing, $267 million in fraud, they were doing that without the administration. California submitted a 60 page integrity action plan to the federal government and has gotten no response. Watters: That’s not true. Jessica: Yes it is true. Here are three facts that you cannot refute. Newsom signed a hospice licensing moratorium in 2021. The Trump administration replicated it in 2026. The Trump administration even praised Newsom's crackdown on EBT fraud. They had an 80% drop. And then there is the elephant in the room, which is that Donald Trump has either commuted the sentences of or pardoned people who have defrauded American people through the medicare and medicaid system to the tune of almost $2 billion. So they want us to take RFK JR or Donald Trump seriously when they talk about fraud and they are pardoning the fraudsters themselves. That reeks to me.

BREAKING: In a stunning moment, Ken Paxton just melted down and stormed out of a press conference after being asked about his 15 houses and alleged voter fraud. What a disaster for Texas Republicans.

President Trump just gave a speech about voter fraud. Someone has been committing voter fraud — and his name is Ken Paxton. He was just caught voting from the wrong address 6 elections in a row. If the President wants to investigate voter fraud, he should start with Ken Paxton.

Lamine Yamal on Lionel Messi after Spain’s FIFA World Cup triumph over Argentina. 🗣️ Lamine Yamal: “Tonight I lifted the World Cup for Spain, but I also experienced something I’ll tell my children one day. The man who once held me as a baby was standing on the other side of the pitch, fighting for the same dream. Football has a beautiful way of bringing stories full circle.” “When I looked at Messi after the final whistle, I didn’t just see an opponent. I saw the player who made millions of kids, including me, believe football could be art. I saw the man whose videos I watched over and over, trying to copy things that nobody else could do.” “I know this defeat will hurt him. You don’t play with that much passion, carry your country again and again, and lose a World Cup final without feeling pain. Even in defeat, he kept demanding the ball, creating chances and refusing to stop believing. That’s what champions do.” “People will talk about Spain winning this World Cup, and they should. But they’ll also remember that, at an age when most legends have already retired, Messi was still making the world’s best defenders panic every time he touched the ball. That’s extraordinary.” “The photo of Messi bathing me became one of football’s most iconic images. Today we took another picture together, but this time I could thank him face to face. Without players like him, kids like me wouldn’t dare dream this big.” “One day another generation will replace mine too. That’s football. But there will never be another Lionel Messi. Records can be broken and trophies can be won, but inspiring an entire generation to fall in love with the game is something only a few people in history will ever achieve.” “Tonight belongs to Spain. Tomorrow, the debates will continue. But my respect for Lionel Messi will never change. He didn’t need to win this final to prove who he is. For me, he’ll always be one of the greatest players football has ever seen, and sharing the pitch with him was a privilege I’ll carry for the rest of my life.”

A reporter asked Lamine Yamal how he handles the pressure of carrying Spain at 18. His answer: my mother had me when she was 16, that's real pressure. My father picked things off the street to bring food home, that's pressure. All I have to do is play football. That's the whole story of who he is, and most fans only know the surface of it. Before he was born, his teenage parents fell behind on rent. Two neighbors named Lamine and Yamal covered them, and his father vowed his son would carry both names forever. His legal name is a permanent record of a debt his family couldn't repay in money. In Arabic, the names mean "the trustworthy" and "beauty." His parents split when he was around 5. His mother raised him in Granollers on a fast food wage. And here's the detail almost nobody knows: that job is the reason he became a footballer. Through work she met the daughter of the youth coordinator at CF La Torreta, his first club. When she worried she couldn't cover the fees, he told her that if the boy wants to play, money will never be the reason he can't. As a kid, Lamine told his parents: if you're counting on me getting a normal job, we're in trouble. But if I become a footballer, you'll never have to worry again. He signed with Barcelona at 7. He was right by 15. Every goal, he flashes 304 with his fingers. The end of 08304, the postal code of Rocafonda, the neighborhood where strangers paid his family's rent before he existed. It gets credited on every goal since. Today, at 19, he plays for the World Cup. And if he scores tonight, somewhere in the biggest broadcast on Earth, two neighbors will hear their names, and a postal code will flash on 2 billion screens.

Analysis from WAPO on what caused the peeling of the Reflecting Pool: We surveyed the pool in the end of June and we located the seven moments of coating failure that you see highlighted here. We then compared that with satellite imagery as well as photos and videos that were taken during the construction process. This helped us identify that all seven of these locations take place along seams that are forged during the meeting of two rectangular coating sections that are put down, one after the other. We brought this information to four experts in waterproof coating, who told us that while no precise diagnosis can be made without being on site or with lab testing, that it is strongly indicative of an application failure made during the construction process.
